Wheel refurb, Chelmsford area
I've had a look through previous threads on here but found nothing after about 15 mins, hence my post.
Can someone recommend somewhere for alloy wheel refurb in the Chelmsford area please? My car is a daily driver and I don;t have a spare set of wheels, so the more local, the better.
TIA

thanks guys. jp were recommended in NSR the other day together with a very helpful link to their website by another esc member (i didn;t think to ask in here!) but i'm assuming my car would be out of action for a couple of days at best - don;t know until i ask the question i suppose.
had a quote from paintit uk at boyton cross (nr the cross keys and mr bmw on the a1060) but i'm nervous about leaving my car with someone i don't know or hasn;t been recommended by someone like-minded. i don't know anyone who's used them though...
was also a bit unsure about calling abw - are they likely to be irritated that i'm just phoning for advice on a service they don;t offer (ie would they be annoyed with me wasting their time?); but thanks for the tip spally

They had better do as I have just recently left a set of mine round there to be done.

thanks mark. i note you dropped "a set off" - that's partr of my problem; i don;t have a spare set, so my car would be out of action unless they do "loan wheels"
i would happily buy a set of 18s for the right money though and then refurb those (if necessary)

Dont use paint it UK
My son just had his S1 wheels done by them and they absolutely wrecked them.
They blasted the date stamps off the wheels, which on a near concourse S1 has basically ruined them
3 of his tyres have since gone flat as they were not put back on correctly
They never balanced the wheels
1 wheel only a week later has started to flake
Needless to say the cheque has been stopped and there are not getting a penny - thay wanted £400 for 5 wheels.
You have been warned - DONT USE THEM

they do need to be road worthy, yes. just been checking fleabay and pistonheads and am watching a few things at the mo. i'm in no hurry but would like to go "anthracite" in due course.
i'd be grateful for any other ideas though - i may be missing something obvious (ie i'm not bothered about using some old steel wheels off something suitable if that will get me by)
spec'c'57 - do you have a dark blue noble? seen one a few times on the a130 between dunmow and chelmsford

will post pics when the wheels are on, but it may be a little while before i manage to sort the calipers. a friend of mine is a smart repair bloke and i was going to ask him to do it for me...earlier this week i also spotted something in the members gallery section - a smart repairs bloke from kent (jayoz) has just painted his calipers blue, although i was going to go for a slightly darker shade (my dvd screen blue is similar to the blue carpets i have, so it's a co-ordination thing rather than just "blue"). he has pics under view my scooby i think - https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...-calipers.html

very nice gesture indeed. i would have been very interested, but i'm sorted now thanks. that would have been the ideal solution to my situation and i'm sure that would be the ideal solution for someone else out there

i picked my wheels up from J P Polising in Canvey this afternoon. they were on the car by mid afternoon and i'm very pleased with them
will post some pics when i get around to it, but wanted to say thanks to SEANIE BOY & GOONER1 for the recommendation and to endorse that recommendation for anyone else in the area who wants their wheels refurb'd.

Looking forward to the pics and am also thinking of using JP as I live near there, any chance you could give me an idea of how much it cost you? PM me if you would rather?

hi nick
i've updated "view my scooby" with one additional pic - doesn't show the wheels in much detail, but the black alloys have totally changed the look of the car!
i would not hesitate to use JP again. very pleased with the result, and i will post a couple of more detailed pics.
obviously as centre caps are plastic and not metal, these can't be powder coated, so i sprayed them up with plastic primer, gloss black and clear laquer all from halfords. i'm no expert when it comes to painting - have made a mess of a few scooter parts i've sprayed in the past, but these have come out pretty well.

Thanks, centre caps not to much of a problem. They look really good and look great on a silver car.
I will be calling them or popping in to get mine done soon then.
