Ruddy slow SN again!
Anyone else having SN slow down to a crawl again???
According to the Webmaster in Bugs/etc, there has been some changes and for some "SN is flying", but for me it's slowed right down to almost dial up speeds and that's with an 8meg broadband line!

Other web sites are totally fine so I know it's not my PC or line that's the problem - just SN that's so ruddy slow........
Rant over.........

Can't Windows only handle 4? Or am I being left behind?
Did you mean 8 gig?

no standard system can take that amount mate.
the max a mother board will take is 4gig of ram, that means it has to have 4x ddr slots taking 1gig sticks......and to be honest i doubt your system has that in it unless you have gone out and bought extra ram...probably 3 sticks

I have closed the browser down, even rebooted my PC to try to get it to go faster in SN, but no good whatsoever. Even had BT check my broadband line as a double check and that's running at 6.7mb as I'm too far away from the exchange to get the full 8meg.
Other web sites are instantanious - it's only SN, the "new and updated" style hasn't made any difference to the display speed - even the new SIDC site is instantanious display, but not SN............. Very occassionally, (and I mean very) SN actually displays quickly - but not often...
Yesterday evening, I went to open a thread on the ESC forum, and while it was going through the process, I put the kettle on, boiled the water, made a cup of tea and was a third of the way through drinking it before the page displayed.............. I've given up complaining to webby, I just close down SN and go onto other sites...........

Much upgraded system - max ram installed two years ago (cost a fortune at that time), piggyback motherboard thingy and other stuff which if I can find the invoices at the time, will show how much it's been upgraded - I do lots of graphic work for my job and need the extra ram...... actually thinking it's time to upgrade again soon (probably by the end of this year I think).
