Remap...?
Hi I am a newbie with lots of questions as i have a 2005 wrx with a cloudy history of owners modding. i have to draw a line in the sand and identify what has been done to it so i can insure it. I am having to attack various questions in the different sections.....
I am lead to believe it has been remapped, even though I am a mechanic I have never drastically modified any of my cars. So from what I can find, it is running a denso ecu? (It was behind the ashtray, is that correct?)
Am I able to tell if it has been remapped by looking? Or is it a strictly software modification? Would I have to pay a tuner to check? It has a launch control feature I was told but would that be a standard feature?
Any help would be grateful

That's not the ECU, the ECU is in the passenger side footwell behind a metal plate. There will be no outward sign its been remapped unless the mapper gave the customer an Ecutek sticker.
If it has launch control then it's more than likely been remapped. To be sure take it to a mapper, they'll be able to tell you what softwares been used to map the car.
