Default MY 1999 UK Turbo (Pic Heavy)

Didn't realise I have not put this up on here so as I am a little bored at work today.....Copied and pasted from another forum.

[30/3/2010]

I was after a UK Turbo 2000 for a few years, but funds wouldn’t allow it. Instead I bought a MK3 Golf Gti! (I think everyone should have a Golf Gti in their past!) What a nightmare that turned out to be!! Dials broke, then overheated, head gasket issue! I swapped the engine over and sold it for a lot less!! Anyway I digress!

Then I finally bought my pride and joy. A 1999 UK Turbo 2000 in August 2009. It was completely standard when I got it except for someone had decided to put a Magnex exhaust on it, (not my cup of tea), and tint the windows.

This is what it looked like when I got it.

The plan was to keep it standard until I got on here!! You guys are costing me a fortune!!

Since then I have done:
Blitz SUS Induction Kit
EBC Turbo Groove Front Disks with Yellow Stuff Pads – Courtesy of James @ GRD
Ported Manifold - Courtesy of James @ GRD
Clear Side Repeaters
Prodrive Gold Alloy Battery Clamp
Toyo Proxies T1R’s
Alpine Front Speakers
Pioneer Head Unit

It now looks like this.. (not a lot different!)

I have just bought some 17” Gold Rota GRA’s with Toyo T1R’s which will go on this week. Also a Blitz Nur Spec R (thanks MrChips) which will go on as soon as it arrives.

I have a lot more planned for it….

More pics and text to follow as and when it gets done.

[09/04/2010]

Ok.. A productive afternoon... Washed and polished her then decided to put the new wheels on. Was going to wait until the wheel bearing was sorted but this was an easier option than washing the wheels!!

Whilst wheels were off I got busy with a toothbrush and cleaned the calipers. Didn't come up too bad but could definatley do with a repaint or Brembos! But thats for later.

Overall I am very pleased with the wheels :thumbsup::thumbsup:.. Ok so it looks like its on stilts at the moment but Tein SS are planned for soon so that will resolve that.

Zoorst was going on yesterday but after discovering that I am missing 1 of the 2 rear brackets (whole bracket has gone  ), and the gaskets didn't show up thats been put on hold til asap!

[23/04/2010]

Ok... Now the exhaust is on (Thanks Mr Chips for the zoorst and James for getting the gaskets and the bracket that was missing somehow ).. sounds lovely! Can really hear the flat four burble now. Wheel bearing is also sorted so no more annoying noise when I have the window down!

Whilst it was at GRD we stuck some Whiteline front drop links on aswell as the old standard ones looked a bit perished to say the least! Cheers James!

Oh yeah... and I also managed to get hold of some STi rear lights which went on.

Car is now sounding, looking and running better than ever so well pleased.

Next is either the suspension or Downpipe and remap... Can't decide which but leaning towards the latter!

Will get some pics done soon and add them to the thread.

[01/06/2010]

[QUOTE=Doobs Scoob;373873]A small update.. and pics!

Also now done are the rear arb and droplinks (Whiteline) as well as James' GRD Fast road setup!... Loving the way the car handles through the twisties now!! Cheers mate  .. Highly recommend this on anyones car!

Next is the decat 3" Downpipe and remap.. Just need to save the cash up for that rather than spend it in the pub gardens!

[07/03/2011]

Well.. the downpipe and remap have been put on hold as this is now my daily car. (Its loud enough on the motorways!) Once i have another run around then the serious fun can begin!

I upgraded the rear brakes to standard Subaru 2 pots and then got offered some rear Brembo's at a reasonable price so fitted them instead.

Front Brembo's I am still waiting to get.. Bought some the other day only for 1 caliper to show up in a box that looked like it had been used as football! Sent that straight back! Godspeed Discs to go on all round along with Cosworth pads.

Zero Sports intake pipe is now on as well as HKS SSQV dump-valve (which I am not sure about as yet)

Also I have some alloy control arms to go on aswell, still trying to find an alloy bonnet for a decent price. So will be shedding some weight soon aswell.

Basically over the next year I am just going to tidy it up a bit more and do the little things. Then come next year its either going to get completely rebuilt or just take it up to 320ish and leave it there. I am undecided.

[14/03/2011]

Just got some front Brembo's .. Will be taking the back ones off at the end of this month and sending them all to Ian @ Godspeed for a full refurb. The question is what colour to go for?
My thoughts are either Brembo standard with D52 (paint code of my car!) logos, or Paint the calipers D52 and put on gold logos? What do you all think?
Other suggestions more than welcome.

[11/04/2011]

Did a little work this weekend.. Front Brembo's are on. Left them Gold as they were in good condition after a clean up. Godspeed discs all round with Cosworth Streetmaster pads. Braking is very different now. Need to bed them all in but the early signs are good.

Also after my little mishap with the handbrake I had the rear bumper repaired and resprayed as well as the front bumper, bonnet vents and the little orange triangle bits in the bumper all colour coded. Looks 10 times better!

Will get some pics once she's been properly washed

[12/05/2011]

Ok.. Finally remembered to take some pics today.

Just got the car back from the body shop.... Managed to get myself an alloy bonnet so have had that and the front grill surround sprayed. Very happy with the results... Spent the most of this afternoon washing and polishing her. (I am no pro)

So heres a few pics of how she stands... (just washed hence the rusty discs)

Front Brembos - Godspeed Discs - Cosworth Pads

Rear Brembos - Godspeed Discs - Cosworth Pads

After respray work:

Sorry got a bit photo happy!

Next month the rear arches are getting repaired (little rust on both sides)
Then sideskirts, spats, mirrors, door handles.
Then debadge and delock the boot and touch up any other scratches and wing dents.

Once all of that is done it should look pretty mint.

After all that then I will work on the power.. Target will be 320 max. Want to keep it as a fast road car.
Plan is as follows:
Decat downpipe
VF34
Injectors (which ones??)
STI TMIC
Remap

Am i missing anything?

Now i think its time for a beer!

[01/03/2012]

Loads done today... (by GRD and JGM) I just stood around and ate fry ups!!

Car is now running 322.6bhp so well pleased with the results.

Cheers chaps.

Will update this thread soon with the full spec and pics when i get round to taking some!

[02/03/2012]

Just a couple of small things to sort out now.. Need to find or make an undertray that doesn't catch the intercooler. Not sure if the Zero Sports one will be a resolution or I am better off playing with the standard one. If anyone has a classic Zero Sports undertray they would like to lend me to test the theory that would be great! That and the rear diff looks like it has a leak so will replace that as well.

She is going into the body shop tomorrow to get the rear arches sorted and get fully colour coded. Once that is done I will give it a good polish and put some pics and the full spec up.

[12/03/2012]

OK.. here it is.. Full spec list and some pictures..

VF30 turbo GRD ported exhaust housing and waste gate

I think thats about it for now... here she is as she stands...

Arches still need to be done.. Hopefully sorted in the next couple of weeks.

The rest is now when funds allow.. Spent a few quid on it recently!
Prosport Gauges centre pod
P1 Splitter
Roof Vent
Samco hosing \ Engine dressing

Like I am sure everyone else does, I keep thinking of loads of other things to do it like flocking the dash, sti 8 interior, coilovers ect.

The list is endless!

[18/05/2012]

Contemplating changing the turbo to something that spools earlier..

What are the opinions.. VF34 or AFP TD05 16g?

Would love an SC36 but cannot justify spending near on a grand.

[13/06/2012]

Small update... After still having a boost leak after changing all vac and intercooler hoses and gaskets I thought sod it, and bought a different turbo, managed to get a VF34 / VF35 hybrid. Not sure exactly whats been done to it TBH but it was done by CR Engineering.

Anyway when changing the turbo over we found the inlet pipe was completely split around the gasket that meets the turbo. Gave up doing it myself at this point and gave it to Stew to sort out!

Picked it up today from him and drove (slowly) to SRR for a remap.

Graphs are below.. Very please with it now.. Probably a bit more BHP than I wanted on a standard UK T2000 with over 130K on the clock but it seems to love it at the moment.

Holds boost really well and pulls all the way to the red line with only really the injectors and me not wanting to kill the engine or box holding it back. Spool seems about the same if a little earlier which is about spot on for me now as I drive it on the M25 everyday. It was only the inner child in me that wanted to be on full boost at 2K!

So here are the graphs..

Spool seems better than the VF30 on the road to me and just pulls and pulls consistently.

Still all standard UK box and engine. Torque is 300 at its peak so shouldn't be under any more strain than it was previously. It was running 322bhp for about a month before the leak took it down to 298hp and it made a noticeable difference to me.
So lets see how long things last...
I have a theory that if i treat her well she will extend me the same courtesy!

[25/06/2012]

Had a week off work so went to Norfolk to a mates to carry on working on the lake we are digging... Gave me a chance to give the car a proper drive on the country roads around there. Properly impressed with it now, it does exactly what i wanted it to.

For those who are interested in the lake there is a few clips of the progress on my youtube. - Here is one.

[27/07/2012]

Next bit turned up today.. Should tidy up the engine bay a bit.

Excuse the out of focus photo!

[09/10/2012]

Finally got some gauges fitted, really pleased I can now see whats going on with the car. Must say a thanks to Bod and Jo for bringing me back from dropping it TFS, thanks to Jodie for taking me back there today to collect and thanks to Stew @ TFS for fitting them and having a quick look over the car. Oh and Jura for the gauges!

Also I seem to be collecting parts... got these all to go on..

BC Coilovers courtesy of Jodie - Cheers mate

Alloy arms: (need sti droplinks to fit)

Clutch and Braided Brake lines:

Back box for track \ quieter days.. Cheers James.

Foglight covers - Need to get them sprayed first:

Other than getting a splitter and roof vent I am nearly there!! Should see me though til March when I will be rebuilding the engine.

[04/12/2012]

I've been planning a rebuild for a while.

Whilst reading up on who / where / costs I have discovered that every single engine builder has had problems / complaints as well as excellent feedback.. Whilst I accept it is just "one of those things" and I fully trust the traders on here who I class as friends, it made me think, why spend £3K+ for someone else to do it when I can do it myself. My mechanical knowledge is pretty poor TBH but how else can you learn?!

The plan is to get the 2.0 CDB i have at home cleaned, bored / honed (excuse terminology) to a 2.1
Cosworth Stoker kit
STI / P1 heads
etc etc. I will be continuing to use the car so will need everything so eventually I can just drop in the new engine, take it SRR and let Simon put a "running in map" on to it.

In short, what I need is an idea of which order to buy things in and order of play so to speak?

I've got no time limit with this but would like to get it complete and in the car within 18 months. Is that a reasonable time constraint or am I being very hopeful bearing in mind I have never attempted anything like this?

I know that most of you will probably either be thinking I am mad or drunk and believe me, I have been questioning myself over this. I'll be honest, I wouldn't even entertain the idea without the knowledge / help offered by you guys so please don't hold back! If you think I'm being an idiot, tell me!

[17/12/2012]

Just found out the oil seal on the VF34 has gone, Stew @TFS has the car at the moment so seeing if it can be rebuilt and at what cost. Otherwise its a new turbo.

So... According to CR Turbos apparently a VF34 cannot be rebuilt!

Leaves me little options unless anyone has a bright idea!
Buy a brand new VF34 or SC36!

Which one?

[19/12/2012]

Just heard from Stew, Car is up and running with a brand new SC36 and getting mapped tomorrow. Unfortunately I am working so won't be there to see it..

[20/12/2014]

[21/12/2014]

Just picked it up from TFS. Its amazing... didn't think I would really notice the difference but my god! It spools earlier, smoother and just as if not more strong. No more oil smell in the cabin when the heaters are on and the handbrake light is sorted.

I am one very pleased man!

[18/02/2014]

Small update... Got offered some newage STI seats at a price I couldn't resist so popped them in yesterday..(well Dan did). Thought it may look a bit odd without changing the door cards but I was pleasantly suprised. Will take some pics once I've cleaned them up a bit.

[07/03/2013]
Jodie kindly reminded me that I still haven't fitted the coilovers.. So... Did a bit of shopping to add to the current stock of suspension parts I have...

22mm Adjustable Whiteline Front ARB
Whiteline Front Sway Bar Drop Heavy Duty kit
BC extenders for the rears

Also got a lower strut brace and Front strut brace to pick up from Guy this weekend so it should hopefully handle a bit better.

Plan is to drop it off to Stew next week sometime and get all of the suspension sorted out.
Also plan to drop the CDB I have sitting in my garage off to him to get the 2.1 engine build started. ( I haven't really set a time limit on it but would be nice to get it all done within a few months.)

[28/03/2013]

Picked the car up from Stew @ TFS last night.

Fitted BC BR Coilovers
Front 22mm Adjustable ARB
Front Rose jointed Droplinks
Alloy lower arms

Suspension is now done and complete. May stick on the braces if I ever get off my **** and pick them up of Guy!

This has completely transformed the handling. Soooo much better!

[29/03/2013]

Pics as promised..
New seats..

And sitting a bit lower on the coilovers..

Alloy lower arms / Droplinks / Front ARB

Only thing left to do now are roof flap, may put a splitter on it buts its pretty low at the front already for a daily drive.

Other than that its now time to get cracking on the 2.1 CDB engine build. Get that done and in on the SC36 for now, then when funds allow 6speed and bigger turbo and then done!!

Getting there.. I knew it would be a long project, I didn't know I was going to go this far with it.

[10/04/2013]
CDB and Crank now dropped to Stew to start the build. (I did tell him not to rush)

[10/04/2014]

More power?
Eventually, yes. But not until a 6 speed is put in and then a bigger turbo (probably rotated)... Will keep it around the 350hp until then. Pretty sure the box is near its limit already so don't really see the point in pushing it.

I'm not chasing numbers, just want more torque, power, and fun.

Main reason is the mileage on the current engine. 150K on it (100K at standard, 50K at 320+bhp) seems more logical to build a new engine than to fettle around with this one.

[26/05/2013]

STI v5 Heads with Supertech Valves sourced (rebuilt by Paul Finch 2000 miles ago)... Tom kindly collected them from Northampton for me... Thanks Tom... Very much appreciated mate.

Now just got to give them to Stew and let him work his magic.

Getting there....

[28/06/2013]

Spent a small fortune on bits for the build recently.... These are what I have now... I can barely move at home for boxes!

Closed Deck Block
2.5 Crank
STI V5 HEADS Supertech Valves, stem seals
Excedy Clutch
Flywheel
CDF Timing Belt Guide
Power Steering Pump
Braided Brake Lines
Samco Blue Rad Hoses
RCM Tubular Manifold & Venturi Up Pipe
Japspeed FMIC Kit
Samco hose kit
Shadow Pro Water Temp Gauge
Fuellab Adjustable FPR 3port
CDF Blue lightweight Powesteering and alternator Pulleys
ODP 3 Port Catch tank
Eclipse Performance Intake Pipe
Zunsport Grill set in Black
Rally Tech MudflapsMagnecor HT leads
HEL Braided Turbo Oil Feed & Bolts
HEL Braided Clutch Line
3/4 size Numberplate
Fog Covers
Rally Tech Mudflaps
Roof Vent

Still need to get these
Wiper Linkage (Pete has sourced)
Slimline Washer Bottle (Pete has sourced)
Starter Motor (Pete has sourced)
Water temp sender for Shadow Pro gauge - Are these universal?
DEI Titanium Exhaust Wrap 2"x50' (Probably need a couple of rolls to wrap everything)
Roger Clark Baffle Plate
Revolution exhaust 3" with 3" DP
Rad cooling Panel
Brake Light
STI6 Front Splitter.

So the plan is to get the engine and engine bay sorted first. If I am correct I will need to remove the fog lights to allow for the FMIC pipework so they will need spraying.

After that get all the cosmetic bits on and probably just get a complete blowover rather than spray bits here and there.

Hopefully by this time I may have also sourced a 6 speed (finances will not allow for that atm).

[29/06/2013]

Would like to see if the 5 speed can handle it first. If not then I'll have no choice.

3 things that are staying that will be changed in the future are:
Ecutek - Probably go Alcatek after its run in.
5 Speed
SC36 - Should be pretty close to if not at its limit.

[18/07/2013]

Block is back with Stew now. Hopefully get started getting it all put together and in the car in the next few weeks.

[02/08/2013]

Before and after cleaning

[08/08/2013]

Stew has been a busy man.. and as usual is exceeding expectations.

Gapping pistons

Pistons in

Bottom end

[14/08/2013]

Couple more..

[15/08/2013]

Intercooler fitted..

Which I believe soon turned into this.. Cheeky bugger. Looks good though.

This pic I really like.

[16/08/2013]

Cheers chaps, popped into Stew's today to have a look in person.. The inlet manifold and intercooler / pipework look excellent. I've seen some done that look blotchy or patchy for want of a better word, but this is spotless. Highly recommend it if you care about cosmetics and why not if you're doing a build.
Heres a couple of better pics I took today (on the phone), still don't do it justice.

Few other things left to do, fuel rails etc but it will pretty much be complete and ready for when I get back from Norfolk, or Simon gets back from his hols.

[23/08/2013]

Whilst I'm away digging the lake Stew and Craig have been cracking on with the car.
Engine back in now, going back together. Couple of little bits to tidy up but its looking sweeeeeeet!

[24/08/2013]

Not really got a target as such... I'll just max out the turbo (SC36) and see what she can do.

And no and I cant wait!!

[07/09/2013]

Black mesh in the front.

[12/09/2013]

Well it pretty much done.. Stew is running it in for me while I am away... I'll be back Monday evening so will be picking her up Tuesday. Cannot wait!

[12/09/2013]

She's on Alcatek now on a running in map and then after 1000 miles she will get her full on maps done.

[18/09/2013]

Well she is back. Picked her up yesterday 100 miles down 900 to go!
I am under strict instructions to avoid motorways.

Staying under 3K is hard work... 5th at 45-50mph, poodling along with poxy Saxo's flying past!

Car does sound amazing even at 3K it has a lovely chatter.

[21/09/2013]

Well the running in began properly today.. Started here...

Then thought is would be rude not to pop by..

Little drive down to Worthing

Followed the coast along for a while.. Stopped at a lovely fish restaurant for lunch and then headed here...

After staying at Stonehenge for all of 20 minutes I headed home via...

The end result..

Long day.. thought I'd get a few more than that but not 1 of the miles is on a motorway. It is amazing what you see when you take the back roads.

Car was 100% faultless. 618 to go.

[24/09/2013]

Planning the 500 mile service tomorrow or Thursday.. Will get the next 500 done over the weekend and then to SRR next Wednesday for the full maps.

[26/09/2013]

500 mile service done by TFS today. Half way mark

[27/09/2013]

Planning a bit of a road trip this weekend, decided to see as many English Heritage sites as I can... Will have a mate and her dog with me so it limits it a little. Surprising how many allow dogs on site though.

I was planning Dover Castle Saturday, White Cliffs, then along the coast to Hastings Castle, follow the coast along to Eastbourne, Beachy Head and then stop off at Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre on the way back. In all thats only about 300 miles and nearly 7 hours of driving.

[28/09/2013]

Another 200 miles done today..

Started by driving down to Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre, not seen it before but a lovely spot.

Then a little drive to the White Cliffs of Dover.

And a quick stop at Dover Castle..

300 to go.. Get another 200-250 done tomorrow and then the rest is driving to TFS and SRR.

[29/09/2013]

Not so successful with the photos today but went to Hastings Castle, Worthing, Bognor and then back through Petersfield.

Now done 941 miles
40 miles to TFS and I'll stick a few on tomorrow when I get back from work.

[02/10/2013]

Well, misfire on number 2... Changed spark plugs and no change, Simon and Charlie think its the HT Leads being crap....My fault for buying Magnecor ones just because they are blue.

So Stew will swap them over for my original ones and then back down the rollers next week.

A little disheartening but we'll get there.

[23/10/2013]

WAHOO!! That is all for now.

[23/10/2013]

I'm very happy with it.. Not actually driven it yet but will pick it up tomorrow... Stew and Charlie seem to think its ******* quick.

[26/10/2013]

The Build
As you all know I decided to build a new engine for the Scoob, after contemplating doing it myself and realising how stupid that idea was (after speaking to a few people on here) there was only 1 other person that kept coming up as a recommendation. Just a happy coincidence he worked on my car already. TFS Racing.

I spoke to Stew and we talked about specs, what I wanted from it and what was needed. I sourced some bits, he sourced the others. I had a few different requests like pipework being painted, no red etc which he sorted. I pretty much left him to it and said there was no rush.

If I had any questions, which I had a lot of, he was happy to answer them and advise me. I pretty much ran everything by Stew before buying it, probably saved me a monkey!

Anyway it went very smoothly and Stew kept me up to date as to where he was with it, as I kept you guys up to date in the thread earlier.

Mapping and 1st Drive
After a couple of sessions at the rollers and having a couple of teething issues with earthing and then a one-way valve which Stew sorted out we were all hoping to have a successful day on Wednesday.

Went to the Surrey Rolling Road to meet Stew, Craig and the Scoob. I left work early so was in the Bora… Jura and Latso were also there so got to see theirs go on. They had a great result! Well done lads! Then it was my turn… On it goes, all fingers and toes crossed, and well…..

Nice work from Simon and Charlie, Anti-lag, launch control, 2 maps. Happy Sid.

I said to Stew take the Scoob home and I’ll come and pick it up on Thursday night, I did say to him have some fun with it (like he needed telling).

Picking up and Driving
Wednesday night I was like a 10 year old boy at Christmas eve looking at one of the boxes knowing it is a NES with Mario and Duck Hunt on the 1 cartridge!
Picked her up from Stew’s on Thursday night, jumped in the car drove 2 minutes down the road and the bloody petrol light came on, clearly Stew had been having some fun Wednesday night. So had to poodle along worried I’d run out, hunting for a Shell station. Nothing on the A3 but fairly confident I’d make the Cobham services, then I see “M25 Closed J10-J9”. Carried on the A3 and noticed a Shell station the junction before Charrington Bowl, turned around and filled up. Phew!

So pulled out of the Shell station onto the slip road in 2nd and gave it a little. Holy crap…. It bloody shifted, was expecting it to be fast but not that fast! Dropped into third and the noise (no dumpvalve) is incredible. As you can imagine I am grinning like a Cheshire cat at this point. Carried on playing, changing at 6500 at the most and it is shockingly quick. Stew said he had it to over 7k so technically I was short shifting.

Friday night, feeling a bit more confident took it out for a bit, very twitchy but fun after I got a bit more used to it. Turbo comes in so early that it can really catch you out. I do wonder if this is a lot to do with me driving an auto bora for a couple of months in eco mode. Once I got my foot properly down with a bit more intent she just came alive, pulls hard and sounds like its sucking in pigeon on acceleration and spitting them out when I change gear. Suspension upgrades definitely working well as well as the brakes. So glad I did that first otherwise it would just be dangerous.

Went to Stews today to crack on with the Nissan v8 build for Guy, this gave me an opportunity to give it the full beans on the way there and back, the LSD makes cornering feel different but it grips well enough pushing it round the twists considering I’m running Toyo T1Rs. Just have to be careful as the slightest adjustment on throttle feels like it will send me spinning. Managed to light up all 4 wheels in 2nd coming off a roundabout which was fun!
Matey in a Maserati on the A3 looked a little shocked.

Haven’t tried the launch control yet, don’t really need it.

Overall after the first couple of days, acceleration is consistently strong all the way to the redline (not hit a limiter yet!), turbo spool is early and sounds great. Cornering is different, can’t floor it where I used to or I’ll be doing circles, that said, its only when you look down that you realise you’re doing 60!

To Do
All that’s left now is to tidy her up, rear arches and any rust needs to be sorted, fit the splitter, fog covers and roof vent. Refurbish the wheels, I now have 2 sets of GRA’s so will do one set anthracite for winter and the other keep gold but get them refurbished as well for summer.

Also need to sort out the Oil temp gauge as that decided it wanted to be annoying.

Undecided on whether to strip the interior and stick a roll cage in it or go the opposite way and get it covered in alcantara, but I’m thinking this is a little way off.

Thanks
There are so many people to thank.

A lot of members on here (Surrey Scoobies) have given me advice, picked up parts, and given encouragement when needed. Too many to name and don't want to leave any one out so thanks to all.

Simon JGM for mapping, we got there eventually mate. Its perfect. Big thanks to you.
Also for randomly turning up with a steering wheel in new condition to replace my horrible one!

Thanks to Charlie at SRR for the time. It is very much appreciated.

Thanks to Bod (Ian), I’m sure you had more input than I was aware of and you were there all the time with suggestions etc.

But mainly a massive THANKS to TFS, they have been spot on throughout.
They have essentially built me a car, engine, gearbox, brakes , suspension.. everything has been done by them. Always welcome to pop in and see the progress, drop bits off, great banter and Craig makes a half decent cuppa!
Their attention to detail is amazing and the engine speaks for itself.
Most of all I’ve made some good friends.

So hopefully that’s is it for now…. Time to get out and enjoy it. I’ll get some pictures up soon.

Some pictures of her now..

Kept the SC36 because I didn't want lag. I can put meth in and gain a bit more power, but at the moment its quick enough.

As it stands its a superb road / track car, a bigger turbo would just ruin that.

[30/03/2014]

Popped down to TFS yesterday, main task was to fit a new Oil Temp gauge.
The old one decided it wanted to only read 150c... Obviously the engine oil wasn't anywhere near that.

So having the Shadow series 1 gauges you would think that a Shadow series 2 gauge would 1, look the same, and mainly 2, use the same connectors. Apparently not. So rather than just plugging in the gauge it needed completely rewiring. Didn't take them long so now have a full set of working gauges although it looks a little out of place I think I can live with it.

I also had this sitting around and as I have anti-lag it would have been rude not to.

[04/08/2014]

Considering changing the wheels.. I need 17x9.5/9.75 but from what I can find there aren't many options in that size. Seems everyone goes for the XXR's and whilst I like them I prefer being a little individual. So if you find yourselves bored and want to hunt for wheels then feel free to post them up on here. Must be gold. Ta.

I really like these.. Kind of like the Advan RS

I suppose 18's on a classic isn't a problem now I can adjust the height etc.

[07/08/2014]

Little update... Had what I thought was a boost leak (was reading 1.2/1.3bar on the gauge which should be 1.5), also sticky handbrake and needed an oil change.

So dropped it to Stew at TFS Racing, on the way down there had a little play with a 458 that didn't seem to be disappearing as quickly as I thought he would, which had me debating my boost leak! Rare to find an owner of a supercar that is willing to give it the beans. BUT as I was chasing him at I noticed the Oil temp creeping up. 110c and still rising when pushing her, something needs sorting here as I can't be risking it.

Stew quickly discovered that the handbrake shoe was knackered which was what I thought was a sticking caliper - new shoes fitted all sorted.

Then down to the rollers, Unfortunately I'm working and too busy to get there but Simon and Charlie ran it on the rollers and its making exactly the same power at the same boost pressure. So boost gauge mis-reading. New gauge needed... I'm getting annoyed with replacing faulty gauges so just leaving it for now until I see someone selling the set of Defi's I originally wanted 2/3 years ago.

With regards oil temps an Mocal Oil cooler has been purchased and Stew is fitting that today. Couldn't see the point of buying a cheap ebay one for it to do nothing or fail in 2 months so went for one of the good ones.

So that will be it mechanically sorted... hopefully!
Then just onto the outside.

[07/08/2014]

Pointless building the car to the point I have and not looking after it properly.

Gauges I want are the old white faced ones that glow green to match up with the dash. I'd settle for black faced that glow white though or Defi Genomes. They really hold their value though.. 2/3 years on and they sell for the same price. Problem with Defi 2nd handers is that they are probably 4th or 5th handers in reality and I don't want to have to replace them again. Probably will buy a boost gauge with controller new and then get the others when funds allow. Just don't like the idea of having a mix of gauges.

Other alternative I just thought of is Toucan.. hmmm. May have to look into this.

Sounds like it has resolved the issue. Stew just test drove it and didn't go above 85 when moving and 90 in traffic.

Now to sort out the exterior / underside.

The 440's ran 350, they were reflowed to 970 or something ridiculous like that. It all set up for big power just needs a bigger turbo and remap. However it is so enjoyable the way its is currently set up a bigger turbo would just ruin it.

This build is class.

Very well done and good tasteful mods. Cant help but think a gold set of Revolution Millenniums would set this right off. Keep it up

Thanks for the nice comments.
Not a fan of the Revs.. Will be going to ABW for arches and a lot of respray work (especially after next doors cat decided to put a great big scratch in the bonnet the other day), so will be looking for some big wheels to fill them.

Great looking car, excellent write up. Just a suggestion re oversteer issues: with the increased spring rates and stiffer damping, you may need to go down a size on the rear arb to give you the balance you're familiar with.
