Default Remap/tune

Since getting my first scooby I've learnt that my ecu cannot be remapped
There has been mods carried out is there anything I can do without putting a board into the ecu I.e tune up?

Advice pls

ESL do their own chip, you need it mapping but it costs around 300 quid, the 1200 quid option is a simtek, thats the next cheapest after market ecu but will include mapping.
To go much further than you are at will cost you a fair bit more in upgrades (brakes/fmic/induction etc), the ESL is well priced and is a daughter board in your standard ecu.

ESL board is £295+VAT, twin map, mafless, closed loop knock control, 3D boost control, OEM idle and cruise, diagnostic control codes. You can have it installed and mapped from about 550 from a distributor.

I may get the boost controller in the get and eel board in a month or so
Would I get much gain from a boost controller I seem to have the boost droppin off at 4000 rpm that doesn't seem right to me wht could this be due to?

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with a boost controller, AVCRs are more than an ESL board.

Unless you mean one of those manual bleed valves in which case I'd be very careful, your car needs to be set up properly for those mods.

A boost controller does not control your fuelling, which is what you need to be watching.
Its recommended not to drive your car until its mapped properly, but if you do then keep off boost and below 3k rpm.

That would be a complete waste of money IMHO.

ESL controls boost perfectly and has no need for a separate boost controller.

Fitting a boost controller now will not look after fueling nor ignition timing which is where it could all go horribly wrong for your engine in the meantime....
