Wobbly gearstick!!
My gearstick seems to move about a lot 
in the middle of the gate etc..also changing from 2nd to 3rd takes a bit of skill! Is there a mechanism that's easy to get to? Is it just springs?

Possibly simply the main detent'bias spring located right under the gearsick and gear box. You can get to it by simply getting under the car to where the rear prop shaft exits. There should be a lage heavy spring there about 50mm long and 12mm dia iirc, one end to a tab on a very large steel disc clamping the shifter bushing and the other to base of the lever.
If it's not there then it has corroded and dropped off. Get one from a main dealer nice and cheap. 5 mins to fit it.
