CV Boots?
Hi all
Just wondering how hard it is to replace the wheel end Cv boots as one of mine has split just recently.
I want to get them done quickly as i don't want the dreaded clicking driveshaft syndrome to start.
Any ideas how much they cost and if dealers stock them?
Cheers

its a horrible job
ive fitted 2 to my scoob
1st one i took the cv joint off and did it the normal way
second i took the inner joint off from the box and slid the new cv boot all the way up to the outer joint
much, much better, you just have to use a few muscles to get the new boot over the inner cv joint, try rolling it and leavering it on (it is possible)
you can buy a cone shaped tool to help you slide it over the cv joint if you dont want to use muscles

Thanks for that but do you think that it will be ok to drive because I don't want it to start clicking when I turn corners?

Hi
Basicaly i removed the whole drive shaft, took the retaning spring out of the inner CV slider thing (Green bit) took that off, then removed the circlip holding the CV on the shaft. slid the CV boot of and slid the new on right down the the other end and reasembled. Really easy when u know how!
Cheers

you should have slid it over the inner cv joint and all the way up to the outer joint!
all you do is jack up the car and knock the pin out and slide it over, knock the pin back in and your laffing

i used a bailcast cv boot and they will sell you a tool to help you slide it over for about £5
i figuerd if it was stretchy enough to be slid over with a cone shaped tool then it was stretchy enough to do it by hand
