A friend of mine purchased a MY96 555 about 4months ago with 43000m on the clock. It has now covered 46000 and wants to give it an oil change. But doesnt know which oil to use.

Recommendations as above Type R Boy. Castrol RS 10w/60 is good too. Make sure your friend avoids the various 0w/40, 5w/40 oils as they're too thin for these cars. It would also be well worthwhile suggesting he follows the oil change procedure detailed in this thread, as a few minutes extra work could save an expensive failure further down the line.
