After reading all the threads on here I've contracted the modding bug...
Some recommendations on what to do first please (Car is MY00) - planning on getting a new air filter first and a ScoobySport backbox, althought not until the existing one falls off! - so I was wondering if the decat centre section can be replaced on its own or only if the backbox is changed too?
Looking for mods to improve the cars drivability - not too bothered about massive power gains but I wouldn't say no...

Messiah, if you want to ask plenty of questions, why not come along to our Cumbrian scoobs meet at the Sportsman Inn on the way to Penrith? Its the second Wednesday of each month, so the next one is on Wednesday 13th August. We usually arrive about 7.00 and have a bar supper and generally talk rubbish for a couple of hours

If you want to save a few pennies, keep your eye on the for sale section.
Their are always scoobysport backboxs and centre sections comming up for sale.
I bought a backbox last year for £180 and as good as new.
You could pick up a magnex centre section brand new for about £80 and you will have a sweet exhaust note
The two combined should give about an extra 18bhp and help the
turbo spin a little freely.

Yep, filter/exhaust first. Don't worry about induction kits, a good (K&N, Green) panel filter will do the job fine.
With an MY00 it might also be worth ringing your local breakers to see if they've got an (MY99) AE800 or AE801 ECU. The 802 in your car runs rich and is also known for causing hesitation, along with other bad habits. If you can get an 800/801 at a good price, you'd be surprised how much more sprightly it'll make your car feel.

Messiah, where you from in Cumbria?
Get a full de-cat all in one go and DONT get a panel filter that has an oil coating on it, bad for your MAF sensor. Assuming it doesn`t overboost with the full de-cat, it`ll go like **** off a shovel

I'm from "oot west" as we say...
was looking at getting either the JR racing or the ITG filter in the next week or so, anything to be aware of with these? I've heard that ITG can screw up the MAF. Also quite fancy a set of the samco turbo hoses to spruce things up under the bonnet, not really expecting a performance increase but I get one then hey hey!!

You'd be better getting a K&N or Green panel filter. As an earlier post says, the oil from the foam filters can get on the MAF wire and cause it to burn out.
