I have an STI v 5 Type R..

autospeed had an article about this, testing aps,mrt,bpm,avo,sti5oem and some others that i cannot remember right now.
they tested area,flow,p drop,weight,etc.
and to make a long story short the mrt one won hands down!

I've got the APS - pressure drop is much lower than with stock, can't really comment on cooling abilities yet.
MRT is supposed to be best though.

Im currently having an MY02 WRX intercooler modded to fit my STI4R.
Its only about 15% bigger than my STI, but its fins are in better condition and it obviously has a larger core surface area.
I also wanted an APS or similar topmount as I think it is easier to sell your car on when if it hasnt got a front mount/cut-up bumper.
I thought about chargecooling but that requires a Radiator in the front, and another cut up bumper.

I got a recorded 360 with the APS using DeltaDyno....but it was -6 degrees outside at the time
Should investigate more now it's warm, but I trashed 3rd gear last time so am not keen until I have a stronger gearkit.....and that'll probably go in with the ej25

MRT was an excellent TMIC for road work - however for track the heatsoak was just too much and lost the car power on extended runs on hot days.
I got mine S/H for £400, new they are nearer double that.
Rannoch

I also got mine S/H ...from Rannoch
But now it have find it self a new home
very good IC, and worked perfect with a MD304
I would not buy a new one sice they cost almost the same as fmic.
But if you get a S/H for ~£400 then it's a very good buy and will work ok up to ~350-360Bhp
