The little turbo on my MY99 is running out of puff. Once I've got my front mount intercooler I am going to fit a bigger turbo. Can anybody tell me what turbo's are available, (preferably garret) and also what turbo is on my car now.

If it is a UK car it is a TD04L-13G.

If you want a Garrett core and hotside but a standard bolt on unit you will need to use an IHI P20 exhaust housing (like VF22/23) to fit with the Garrett center housing rotating assembly, but this is no bad thing.

Two UK suppliers of custom built Garrett turbos for Subaru applications are BR Developments and Lateral Performance.

In addition, the HKS GT series turbos are also full Garrett based I believe.

What else are you thinking of changing apart from the FMIC as there is a heck of a lot more to do to make the most out of the 400-500+ BHP Garretts that you could be supplied with?

If you are only wanting 350 BHP there are other options available for less ££££. 350 BHP is plenty to challenge your gearbox and some would say is the sensible limit for the UK internals, certainly it is for long term reliability so far shown.

The reason i want garret is because i have a friend who works for them so hopefully less £'s. At the moment I have HKS filter and full exhaust, Nismo fuel pressure reg and actuator, Apexi power FC. Currently running 1.3 bar, and I guess just under 300bhp. I am not on the quest for very big bhp as, like you said drivetrain will become an issue. The car is for daily use so midrange torque and driveability is also something i would like to keep.

Get your contact to do something with an IHI turbine housing then - maybe P18 might be more suitable for your requirements (AR is a bit less).

See the Garrett website http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob.../jsp/index.jsp for suitable compressor and turbine maps and details of the CHRA options.
