Fitted a 2nd hand APS TMIC last night - with the temps here so low currently (I have been playing with 1.6 bar on standard tmic ), I don't really notice a performance difference at 1.3 bar. Will try more boost in due course.
However off boost torque is much better, during spool up too - I put this down to reduced restriction?
I don't really like the alignment at the throttle body - it's slightly offset between i/c outlet and TB, and after the time I spent porting the turbo outlet I'm not happy with introducing this now. However, moving it over the necessary 2-3mm will need me to relieve the strut brace a little
I retained the 'tilt-kit' spacers - this makes for a *very* tight fit, the splitter is now 1mm from the fins....and the bonnet needs a good shove to close
One problem - at exactly -30cm/mg (vacuum) it sounds like a kid with a flute is playing under my bonnet. Varying the vacuum around this point is like playing an instrument I'm still on the stock dv - anyone else had similar? The dump valve mount plate threads on the APS were stripped so I had to retap up to M10 bolts (also requiring enlarged dv bolt holes), but I don't see this as a cause for the flute playing.
Next up is a larger bonnet scoop and opening up the hole through to the i/c to perfectly match the fins. Where can I buy larger scoops - seem to recall seeing somewhere in US?
Richard
PS: thanks Nom!

Richard,
Keep us posted on how you get on when the weather warms up a bit.
It may be worth asking Adams pal Daz (Jaye?) if he can come up with anything in the way of an oversize CF scoop, his intake pipe looks very nice.

It's definately much less restrictive! I think that's where most of its gains come from, actually.
Never had any problems with the mounting - but then I didn't have a strut brace Went straight on very nicely. Although it's rather cozy in there
Never got the flute - could it be something to do with the 1mm between the fins & the splitter? Pants the threads on all APS things, it seems... but can't see how that would make the flute noise, no!

Hi Skassa - Swiss Polizei, basically There's lots of metal needs removing to do it right, meaning it wouldn't pass any form inspection.
I'll attempt the stealth approach, if I can't get what I want then I'll fit the Evo front mount anyway
