NOS

price isnt bad, think streetworkz in croydon are cheaper on 0208 239 8840 they also use better kits (less reliability problems) im sceptical about the 150 bhp you were quoted as my research leads me to believe the engine wont take that or at least not for long and ive spoken to the manufacturers of a bunch of nos products who have assured me id blow my car up with that power and no internal work done

Japspeed in Southampton are advertising this price ring them on 023 8068 2440 they seem to know their stuff and are an official NOS installer but also do twin or large turbo conversions and will make intercoolers etc to order.
They also have a web sight : www.japspeed-racing.com

Just picking up on the above comment about the power increase of 150HP this is possible with the kit but will depend on application and as you say a standard turbo engine may be a bit fragile for that size of increase although the charge temp would be lower with Nitros so it may not fry No3 cylinder in the way that other tuning would?
Anyone running NOS with insurance?

NOS products have notoriously dodgy valves which are prone to popping off, i used to run their kit on my old car, nothing but grief. Id recommend nitrous solutions kits from experience now, i used to get all my stuff done at streetworkz 02082398840. Theyre currently helping me use a nos kit as an antilag system on my scooby to severely lower intake charge temperature. Have spoken to a few mnechanics as well as the manufacturers and have been advised that anything over 75 odd bhp direct port or 120 with a progressive controller on the subaru would be pushing your luck a bit too far.
The 150 bhp that is being claimed by this company is a joke thatd pop the engine virtually right away, most standard subaru internals are only good up to 400 bhp anyway whacking 150 bhp on a 280 bhp car in a less gentle and reliable fashion, whether you lower charge temperature or not is gonna melt something.
Having used nos before and seen it blow up peoples engines first hand (and were talking solid engines not paper mache subaru ones) id recommend caution first, upgrading jets takes 2 minutes anyway so youre better off going for a low popwer that wont blow your car up. If you really want 150 bhp ask that company to guarantee you, on paper that if your engine goes bang theyll rebuild it. If they do let me know coz ill have a kit fitted, cud do with a free rebuild lol. Will guarantee u they wont put their money where there mouth is coz this way when youre engine goes bang running 150bhp, and it will, they can say not our problem.
insurance wise they screw.... if u tell them lol. As Nos is not turned on all the time you can claim its for track use only and not declare it. Have given traffic police that enough times lol

I think you may have misunderstood what I mean when the power increase for this system was quoted it was the possibilities of between 50 and 150 hp from the system not what japspeed would apply to your car that would depend upon which car they used it on based on their experience
I would assume that their status as an authorised installer means that they would set up the system to the best and most reliable running conditions.
I doubt if many tuning companies would want to destroy an engine in the pursuit of unreliable power.

m8 if the engine was right streetworks showed me 400 bhp jets.... but ud need an indestructable car to run it on. Price wise though ud do well to ring them, theyre cheaper and sell better kit

Well those lads are:
a, Not running stock internals (I hear they used a stock crank though).
b, Rebuilding their engines a tad more often than the average Joe out there.
So...NOS shouldn't be seen as a quick easy way to increase power, there are ways to do that the "proper" way anyhoo (and it won't be much more expensive when you've filled up a few times).
/J - snob?

very good like being hit by a car from behind. This was with the smallest jet.The fist jet they tryed took the power to 352bhp and 323ftib a bit to much i think .on a standard clutch.3rd gear is now like second .

"bottom end" is not restricted to the crank, which is very good.
"Cheese" is a strange term to use when complaining about the engine because it wont take a 100hp kick up the backside.
Did PE mention the audi they kitted with n20, the owner wanted (demanded I think) 100hp jets, engine went bang.

thats why there only 50bhp on this and i watch the pressure very close.as for the 100 shot yes very silly you bring that in low and the crank would fall out of WELL MOST CARS

motomc1,
I realise now that you must have had the NOS fitted sometime along this (slow) thread.
On your setup is it set to come in a specific RPM? And does it shut off BEFORE you hit the rev limiter?

yes the nos can not be brought in below 3300rpm This can be changed to what ever you want AS for the rev limiter you must watch the rpm which is not that hard .also looking at a change light on the top of the dash I>E peak power light This is from datatool a bike company. One thing is you must have a bottle heater to keep pressure at 900psi.In this weather its very hard with out this.Should have one this week .am going slow and looking into all sorts of thing to make it safer . also a pressure reg this is more tricky.thanks matt
