FSE Power Boost Valve

Anyone have any experience of these mini-beasts?
Do they do exactly what they say on the tin?
Do they do it well?
Is it worth getting it along with an air-induction kit? (Which I am hoping to upgrade to v.soon)
All answer on a POST-card
TIA!
James

I aint got me a Scooby Im a rebel and just using you lot for precious info
I have heard they do help the Pug GTi's alot due to a problem they suffered....something along the lines of when they slowed down rapidly, the fuel supply would do the same....I think anyway "dont quote me on that"
Edited to say: I did used to have a scooby though and want another!

It is a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. If used alone you will lose power on a Scooby. If you injectors are struggling it can give them a new lease of life along with an uprated fuel pump, but the rising rate is difficult to map around on a MAF based system like the original ECUs. Best getting bigger injectors or raising the static fuel pressure on top of manifold pressure.

Yup, just to echo John, unless your running different ECU to take into account the extra pressure thats been supplied to the injectors then you will lose power. At worst case you will suffer bore wash which will kill your engine too!

Yup, no problem there, as the ECU will be mapped for the extra pressure(read extra flow through the injectors). In simple terms though, unless you plan to run alot more boost(i.e. more than the standard injectors and regulator can supply fuel for) then your wasting your money.

If you're getting a remap too, then stick with a basic 1:1 reg'.
It makes it much easier for the person doing the mapping.
Whilst it can be done (tried it on my own car) the 1.7:1 reg' totally distorts the shape of the fuel map, and it takes a lot longer to map the car, since most of the mappers won't have a base map to start from.

Cheers guys! As mentioned above I dont have a Scooby, but I do have an E30 BMW, do you think the same rules apply? I didnt really want to make mega changes to the car, I was just thinking of adding an air-induction kit with cold air feed, so it can breathe and then found out about the FSE PBV....
I did have a Scooby before, but had to get rid... But I am saving up again,...for an Imp Turbo
