I have just made my own quickshift after reading David Wallis's thread and the result is the b*ll*cks...
So, i am offering the chance for other people to own there very own quickshift for next to nothing...
Would anybody be interested in a quickshift for £10?? i will need your gearstick and the £10 is for my mate to weld it.
If anyone is interested mail me and i will sort out details, i will need your gearshift and a stamp adressed parcel plus £10.
I am making no money from this but i have to pay for the welding.
Gonna post pics tomorrow.

Easy mate, remove gear surround, un screw and remove 'rusty' metal plate holding rubber boot and you will see the bottom of the gear stick with a ball on it, this is in a plastic cup that is in the gear linkage.. there is a circlip that holds the plastic cup into the linkage this must be removed...
the gearstick plus plastic cup can then be pulled out by pulling the gearstick backwards (towards 3rd gear) and it will pop out..
then with the gearstick in your hand remove the cup from the bottom of it...
all done..
Rob
the result is pure quality!! i love it

To prove that i am not in it for the money i will give step by step instructions to making the quickshift for anyone wanting to attempt it themselves...

No problem Dan, basically....
Remove the ball from the bottom of the gearstick
This is done by driving the small pin that is in the middle of it..
The pin comes out quite easily but only one way, the holes either side of the ball are different sizes the pin must be driven out of the larger size hole..
Then you will see the welds that hold the pivot onto the stick, these can be cut of quite easily with a hack saw, if you look carefully the welds do not go all the way round and just hold the sides of the pivot on...
once the pivot has been removed it must be welded back on in exactly the same place but 1cm (10mm) higher up the stick...
eg. in line with the original welds as the stick has a bend in it...
Luckily the pivot is curved so that it fits exactly round the stick which makes it so easy to reweld
Refitting is the reversal of fitting lol

I could have probably got the stick welded a bit higher up but i am very happy with the shift and moving it higher up may excite me too much
Shift is easily halved and the stick no longer feels sloppy, it didnt feel sloppy until i fitted the new one and now i can look back and laugh Muh ha ha ha lol

Brought a new one from subaru, found a local import friendly dealer and got a 12 month guarantee so..... £52 and they sold me one that was supposed to be for another car, but the car was not supposed to be picked up until after another one could be delivered
Then i found that when i replace the so called **** old clips on the rad hoses with new jubilee clips the new ones didnt hold the hoses tight enough and they leaked (no matter how tight), put old **** clips back on and hoorah... all fixed
