Default Drive shaft seal

Rite I have a speed 6 not sure if that matters I have a leak on the gearbox drivers drive shaft seal. Is it simply pop the shaft out take the seal out and tap the new one in. And does the seal need to bottom out to the gearbox housing. I know when ordering the parts they are sided and cheap from Subaru any advice would be great . Google has videos seems straight forward

When I did mine I simply popped the seal with a wide screwdriver carefully, oiled inside the socket and tapped it back in until it bottomed out using a socket. If you lift the car from the side the oil should flow away and not out. Don't mix them up as they are sided for shaft rotation. ,

Did mine recently, male driveshaft type. Easy job. Manual says to fit new retaining clip on driveshaft. I didn't bother. No problems so far, 1000 miles on. I tapped my seal in so it was flush with housing. Oil inner and outer part of seal before fitting.
