The reason I ask, is that I have made the mistake of buying from them.

I wish to warn all ScoobyNet members, that they are to be avoided at ALL COSTS

Please note that all details contained in this post are based on fact and not conjecture. I have kept some parts vague as I am still fighting my case.

I purchased a part from -:

HDC Subaru
The Manse
Shore Green
Todmorden
Lancashire
OL14 8SF
www.hdcsubaru.com

It arrived last Wednesday, but was incomplete, so I was unable to fit it. Furthermore, the part did not appear to be 100%, which I was told it was.

I called them and they said that they would put the missing part in the post straight away.

I waited but it never arrived, and when I called back, I was told that they had been unable to send it but would send it that day (last Thursday).

I again waited but it never arrived on Friday, so I called back and was told that it had been sent on Friday morning and I would receive it on Saturday or Monday.

Again I waited but nothing arrived.

I tried calling them all day Monday and Tuesday, but they won't return my calls and now won't even answer the phone.

I am now stuck with a half complete part, and they obviously haven't sent the missing bit like they said they had. I have been lied to and treat extremely rudely on the telephone.

I'd like to warn other ScoobyNetters against using the
UK's largest specialist dismantler and repairer of Subaru vehicles
They are irreputable, and dishonest. They have my money, and I have their half-part! They are not interested in you once they have your hard-earned!

Please don't use them as you may end up in the same predicament as me.

And if anyone from HDC Subaru reads this, please find the guts to reply, as all I have stated is fact, and if you wish to lible slander against me, then I'll gladly see you in court.

I want my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I 100% recommend Howard (www.hdcsubaru.com)

Ive bought from Howard on a number of ocassions.. but that isnt his work address...

So I suggest you contact Howard..

And for information..

I bought a sport (non turbo diff) off him for a project..

Turns out I needed a turbo diff... he give me a turbo diff to take away.. said I hadnt brought the sport diff back as I forgot (was collecting an old engine) and he said it didnt matter.. as and when..

Very Helpfull..

give him a call the numbers on his site, if it was hdcsubaru you dealt with?

Hope its a misunderstanding and you get it sorted..

I'd hope it is a misunderstanding.

I've tried the office, workshop, and his mobile (from my invoice) to no avail.

He promised me he had posted it last Friday, so where is it?

I cannot get through to him on any number, so what assumptions am I meant to make?

If HDC Subaru wish to rectify the situation, then I am prepared to return the item for a full refund and I will post how helpful/unhelpful they are if and when it happens.

Having said that, it will be difficult to arrange anything since I can't reach them by phone....

Perhaps he is on holiday, or away elsewhere, but WHY tell me that he had posted the missing part last Friday if he indeed hadn't?

Customer service -: dire I'm afraid.

I have used other dismantlers/breakers before and have always found them to be very helpful with an excellent service.

Why then, am I sitting here with a half complete part, unable to fit it to my car, with an earful of empty promises from HDC?

Totally agree with David on this.
I've dealt with Howard a few times, and never with any problems - always a good, prompt service.

Yes we have been away on holiday and will be back at work on the 9th of July.
Iam sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with our service.
You have kept it vague as you are still fighting your case??
On the 24th of June you placed an order for an electric aerial from us,at the time of placing the order you were told to expect the part in possibly 3-4 days as we would send via parcelforce to keep the cost down for yourself. You actually received the part on the morning of the 25th,confirmed by you ringing to say that the rubber grommet that fits in the car body was not with the aerial.
we initially presumed that you would have your old one but apparently this is not the case.We said that one would be put in the post later that day.
You phoned again on the 26th to say you hadn`t received it yet,I personally told you that you wouldn`t have got the part yet as we were unable to post it the day previously due to missing the last post at our local P.O.I didn`t think i was rude to you on the phone but did resent the remark that my wife lied to you as "she" said the part would be posted the previous day. There was one posted to you on the 26th i personally oversaw this as i knew we were going away that weekend and wanted to sort any "loose ends" before doing so.
I can only apologise to the fact that you haven`t received anything. If you would like to return the aerial,a refund will be given upon reciept, alternatively we could send you another grommet.I dont think this gives you just cause to call us "dishonest and irreputable".
I await your instuction.
Regards.
Howard.

Howard

You have more or less repeated what I said in my previous posts...

You also admitted that the part was sent incomplete, what good is the part without the actual section that secures it to the car body???

To re-cap....

I ordered an aerial which as you correctly state, I received on Wednesday 25th June.

I immediately telephoned you to tell you that it was incomplete, hence, I was unable to fit it.
Why presume that I had my "old one"?
I never once gave the impression that I did not require every part of the mechanism.
I told your wife this and she stated that you were "out in the car" but would try and post it that day. No problem with that.

On Thursday 26th, the part never arrived, so I telephoned again to see if it had been posted the previous day.

I again spoke to your wife, who told me that you never got back from being "out in the car" in time to catch the post office. Fair enough.
She further stated that the part would "definitely" be posted that day. (Thursday) Fine.

The part again, never arrived on Friday 27th, so I again telephoned, this time speaking with yourself.
At this time you were obviously aggrieved at my "hassling" you, as your manner was very abrupt and rude.
You cut me off, mid conversation while I was explaining the aforegoing, stating "well you wouldn't receive it today, because I only posted it today!"
(On Thursday, your wife assured me that it would be sent that day)
Since you told me that you had posted it on Friday, this contradicts your post above, which states that you posted it Thursday, but you told me Friday on the phone???
You are obviously getting the 26th and 27th mixed up, as you think that this conversation took place on Thursday when it was in actual fact, Friday.

You may well resent the "lied" remark that I made on the phone, but your tone of voice and abruptness caused me to use this phrase. Your wife apologised for not posting it Wednesday, but did assure me that it would go on Thursday. When I spoke to you on Friday, you said that it hadn't been posted on Thursday after being assured it would. Lie or oversight? Call it what you will. I was pi$$ed off and wanted my part!

Although not very happy with your customer service and attitude, I was satisfied at least that my part should be complete within a few days, since you said you had posted it.

I waited until Monday/Tuesday of the following week, and still no part.

What am I meant to think?

I called your office, your workshop, your mobile. I emailed you, no reply.

What was I supposed to do?

You told me that you had posted my part, but I never received. I tried to contact you by every means possible but could not get through.

(Perhaps an answering machine message, or a website update with your holiday dates would be professional?)

Regardless, I have still not received the missing part some 11 days after you claim to have posted it.

I have since aquired a replacement aerial from another dealer, complete.

Incidentally, this other part, appears completely different from the part you supplied, which begs the question...is your part the correct one, and would it fit in any case?

With regards to "dishonest".... on several occasions I was assured that the part would be posted, and then telling me it had been posted, yet I have still not received it...... Is that not "just cause" to claim dishonesty????

With regards to "still fighting my case".... since you went a.w.o.l. after leaving me with an incomplete and useless part, I informed my credit card company regards the transaction in order to obtain advice re my rights and course of action.

I will send the aerial back to you tommorrow, Recorded Delivery, and await a refund.

I have never used your company before, and going by some of the other comments of praise above, it may appear that this is a secluded incident, and that I have been unlucky on this occassion. I would like to hope that is a one-off incident, and out of character of HDC Subaru.

I await your reply.

P.S.

I used this public forum as a means of finding out what I could, as you were un-reachable.

If you prefer to communicate by private email, then that is fine.

J. Reilly

To ressurect this thread.....

I feel it necessary that I should state for the record that Mr Chopping of HDC Subaru has refunded my money for the incomplete item, for which I am grateful.

HDC - excellent service & parts.

Very generous with advice and technical assistance - even for parts not being purchased from them.

Howard is a top bloke, completely honest and open in all my dealings with him - even to the extent of recommending purchasing parts from another source.

Sorry to hear you have trouble, but it MUST be a misunderstanding!

I've personally used Howard/HDC on several occasions. I can't fault his service, or the products I've received.

Lastly,

Wallis, Trust you to get involved in a thread about a bloody GROMMET

Seems that there are plenty of positive testimonies about HDC as well as the negative ones...

However, I have my refund and have learnt from my experience therefore for me, the subject is closed.

I bought a crank sensor about 2 years ago from Howard, I did collect it in person and never had a problem, and I don't think iv'e been in touch until recently to have some work done. And he remembered the car and who I am over the phone this guy is a top bloke and bends over backwards to try and help.

I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience with HDC but i'm sure if you where to use their services again there would not be a problem. :-)

I know Howard really well and I see why your defending HDC but you have just dug up a post that gave him bad publicity at the time and thanks to you it will probably get him more , as most people that read this might not notice that it was 2003.
