Default PS3 - Not reading BluRay discs.

As title really, my PS3 has stopped reading Bluray's. Both games and films.

It will read and play normal DVD's and CD's though.

Has anyone encountered this, and is there a fix, other than getting another PS3?

Sent from my Nokia 3210 using crapatalk..

I doubt it's the laser, the fact being it still reads other disc,is it updated with the latest firmware?i know that my PS3 got abit selective about what disc it would play Until I updated it.SJ.

Why would I want to do that? They aren't backward compatible, so no GTA5 or GT6.

Had this along with a lot of other people after an update a while back, Sony refused to accept any fault - it's just a coincidence that quite a few Fat PS3's all had the same issue after the update? They wanted £120 or something to give me a reconditioned slim. I went to cash generators and picked up a boxed one with a few bits and pieces for £80. Not happy with what happened but the Fat had the noisy fan issue anyway so was a good excuse to change.

I'd rather try and fix it Ayde, but, it might be time to replace it.

It might just be a coincidence, TBH. Last Sunday it took about 30 tries to get GTA to load. Time will tell.

Mine worked occasionally, my mates bricked itself not long after so he tried his drive in my PS3, still the same so he bought a new one.

I had this on my old ps3 it was the bluray drive, local electronics shop wanted 70quid to fix it or I could buy a new drive off eBay for 30quid but I ended up just selling it
