Default Can't read any pdfs........

Hi, my new computer seems uinable to open, or read any pdfs. Clicking download results in a blue lozenge about 1cm high and 4cm long, horizontally across a white sxcreen.

I have Adobe X installed. What am I doing wrong?

Firefox, Adobe X, Windows 7 64 bit.

Please be gentle and give simple answers that I can understand, thanks.

TIA

probably something to do with 'protected mode' -- see here

might be better to go back to the 'plain' version of adobe reader !!!

That last one has solved it: I got Chrome when installing the older version of Adobe. It now reads pdf's. Cheers.
