I've just been given an iPad 2 which is on OS4.3.1. As far as I can work out (Google!) I can't Jailbreak this?

It appears to be impossible to upgrade to 4.3.3 and use Jailbreakme and 4.3.5 can't be Jailbroken.

Am I missing something?

No you are not missing something, it cannot be done The problem is that there wasn't a JB for iPad2 4.3.1, and you cannot put 4.3.3 on it as Apple has closed the signing window for 4.3.3 and you don't have the shsh 'blobs' to enable you to activate it without talking to Apple's servers.

Unfortunately that is only for 4.3.3 and I'm on 4.3.1 and can upgrade to 4.3.5 and that's it ...

You could use iOS 5, but i would steer clear as it is not ready and apps may need updating to use it. There have also been reports of it being a bit flaky, which is to be expected as it is a beta OS. It should be out by late September or early October so you could see if there is a JB then

yes i'm fully aware of this, but the op question is he can only do it on 4.3.3 which apple have stopped signing, so therefore he can't jailbreak the ipad 2

and the link jura posted clearly states ipad2 is not covered .

i was replying to the op question not jailbreaking in general as what the op wants to do cannot be jailbroke on the ipad2 right now.

what part of that don't you understand.

So you come along and post a useless link that doesn't help the op as markus has already cleared the issue up so you can try and prove me wrong.

In my link is not listed iPad 2,but is available for iPad2 JB.
You can try run Tiny Umbrella,run it with hosts set to Cydia to see if u have shsh's,few guide are on Internet forums..
