Advice computer name ??
Windows xp - how do I find out the user name on my pc as opposed to the computer name, trying to set up a 2x app on android and been entering my ip address and what I thought was my computers name but seems its the computers user name you enter .
bit confused ??!!

Hmmm. Not as simple as I thought. You obviously have the PC set to log you in automatically when you boot up?
Go into Start -> Control Panel > User Accounts - which will give you the list of all the users on your system. From there you *should* be able to figure out which is you .... You should have had to set up a user when you first logged onto the system
"If" you only have the one user the control panel should show 3 in total: Administrator, Guest and 'you'.
Hopefully ....

Okay cheers guys appreciate the info but unfortunatly not really any further forward !!
okay when I first start up my computer I get a log in screen showing " J_ohn " and from there I just enter my password and then the computer loads up.
if I Go into Start -> Control Panel > User Accounts I get the one above which is described as computer administrator and another account known as guest ( says guest account is turned off )
so from that you could safely say " J_ohn " is my user name yes ??
Should I have a third user as you say ??

Sorry mate could you run that by me again, press Ctr -alt-del- lock button ?? did not even know there was a lock button ??!! or is this a process within windows task manager that is an option when CTR-alt-del is pressed ??

where this comes into it I have not got a clue ??!!
am deffinatly signing in with my " J_ohn " username as well its associatted password so cant see how this is and why its not showing under user accounts ??
someone please help before this one drives me up the wall !!!

Okay thanks for all the suggestions guys unfortunatly none off them worked !!
got a mate off mine to have a look at it and it had him beat until he remembered remote desktop is not available on windows xp home !!
oh well learn something new !!
any idea if there is an add on that will allow it ??
