Re-arranging desktop icons by accident on Mac, undoable?
I sometimes do this when I am trying to arrange the files in a folder by name and the cursor has clicked onto the desktop. Bloody annoying as all your folders and icons get arranged elsewhere by name and I can't seem to undo it. Can it be undone?

Command Z is the undo command, and that might work in regards to putting the icons back into their places.
It sounds as though you have a folder in icon view and you are manually moving things into place to order them by name, any reason why you don't use the "Name" option from the "Arrange By" contextual menu (right / control click inside the folder to see the menu)

I am using arrange by name or size etc. Problem only occurs if I want to re-organise the files in the open folder but if I then accidentally click outside the folder - effectively to desktop - then all desktop icons and folders on desktop are rearranged instead. Command Z won't work in this instance. Rare but annoying. Command Z may work on later Macs.
