Default Mac issues ( :O Surely not)

Why is it, that on my mac, when i download music from a webpage via safari (all legal downloads) that they open the second they finish?

Can this be stopped? Such a pain when you download a large amount at once and you're trying to listen to a song without interruption

But the website i am on is all flash, and i don't think it can do it that way. But is there a way so you can not set it to open when it finishes downloading?

On a PC you would just uncheck the box on the download window, can you do similar on a mac?

Have a look in safari's prefs. There is an option about opening "safe" files after download. Default is for that option to be enabled. Disable it and see if the problem is fixed
