Default External HDD Recommendations?

Finally decided I need one to back up numerous digital pics, mp3's etc. Anyone recommend a particular make/model?

Will be stuck in my office so desktop is fine. 500-640gb should be sufficient. I do have esata on my current mobo and case so would prefer that.

Best Ive found so far is the Seagate Xtreme 640gb for £53 at ebuyer inc p&p. Comes with 5yr warranty.

I got a Buffalo 500GB off ebuyer for a similar price. I've knocked it off the desk twice now and it still works!

you can also buy a disk drive that is powered by a usb only. I don't recomend that you would use that in a car as an external usb source of your mp3 player, because all the shaking could damage your harddrive moving parts. For car stereos regular usb keys are just fine.

Erm cheers for that....wasnt planning on hooking up a HDD to my car stereo.

Anyway cheers for the comments but went for the Seagate 640gb for £53 delivered (cheaper than the 500gb lol) as a bargain.
