Cheapest place to get an Apple Mac Mini
I'm looking for a mac mini, i need 2GB ram and at least 120GB HDD, also latest operating system.
Does any body know of cheap places to get them from
(I'm new to macs and im sure there are cheaper places than the apple website?)

To be honest I'd save your money and buy a real PC. We've got one of these in our office and I'm forever turning it off it makes such a racket.
Unless you have a specific need for a Mac, avoid them at all costs. As a general rule of thumb, people who work in IT, don't have a Mac, that says it all really!

FWIW, depending on what you're doing with the Logic Studio (I'm a certified Pro), the Mac Mini may struggle.
Straight off look at the latest dual core jobbies. I'm guessing you're looking at a used item. If not, DON'T buy the ram from Apple - it's really expensive.
Look at an external FW drive for recording audio on to. DON'T use the internal drive. VERY bad practice.
For used, Ebay is your friend.
I've got some contacts at Apple resellers that could do you a deal......
Do you also need Logic? Studio Pro or Express?

well i have looked at the system requirements and the mac mini seems to be at the right spec if i was to buy a good enough one. Diddn't fancy the 700+ price of a normal mac so thought i would save money that way.
I do also need logic yes.
What do you mean studio pro or express?

Hold off on buying on, looks like Apple are about to update it, possibly releasing it today.
I'm also waiting on a mac Mini, for some real IT work I might add
Best place to buy them? Apple store, seriously, won't find them much cheaper elsewhere.
Cheers

I'll echo that waiting would be very prudent indeed. If it's not released today, then there is said to be another Apple event on the 24th, which could tie in with a release as well. It would be worth waiting as a) you could get discounts on the current kit, and b) if you purchase new then you'll be getting a better spec machine.
As for discounts, as others have said, you'll be very lucky indeed as Apple hardware isn't discounted that much.

Mac all the way! Don't Apple open up the refurb store every Wednesday? You might find a pretty decent price there with the same Apple guarantee.
edit: here's a link, no minis in at the moment but appears the store is open now rather than once a week.

Guys be aware the prices one much of the new mac kit today are hugely higher than the old machines the netry level Mac Pro for example.
Re PC v mac donlt get me started, I was a PC through and through and switched over and have been selling Macs for 17 years now.
Re pricing if a price is all you want ebay away, if you want value for money there are plenty of very good Apple authorised resellers who will give you good service , understand the product and can be competitive with the Apple store but add the advantage of a much wider range of products. You'll also note the AppleStore has never won any of the Mac industry awards.
If you want some help drop me a mail tomorrow am at allan.bayman@btinternet.com you need to be quick as we're getting a run on the old stock of some of the models already, Scoobynet rates where possible.
