PS3 HDD upgrade / Playstation store dl
I have a 250GB drive from a previous PC upgrade 2.5" but it's a 7200rpm. Reading a bit on various sites they say it might have an issue with heat given the higher drive speed.
Anyone changed the drive for a faster spinning unit ?
Second question ..... better to donload GT5 prolouge or go buy the disc ?

I'll go buy the disc, playing so much Forza 2 I have a feeling I'll hate GT5 but I'm willing to give it a go.
I'm new to the world of PS3 but seriously WTF is up with having to install everything. What a pain in the butt

The installs are a pain, albeit a one-off pain. GT5P is awful especially with the update to download and install too
On the subject of installing, do all demos need to be installed after downloading? The few I have did, then I downloaded the Pacific Rift demo using the 'shutdown when finished' thing, when I switched back on a day or so later it had installed too

I downloaded a few this morning to compare with the 360 and they all had to be installed. Fracture/Bad company/F1/Resistance.
Bad company was the worst at around 5 mins the others were a bit shorter but not much

If I want to put in a bigger HDD, I'm happy with backing up the saved games, but what do I do with the actual game data, especially for games i have downloaded?
I was toying with the idea of putting Linux on it and getting a bigger HDD while I was at it.

I just upgraded one of our PS3's to a WD (5400rpm) 320gb drive - £49.99 delivered from Play.com
Dead easy to do - As mentioned, backup to an external hard drive (It needs to be FAT32) and then install the new drive and restore the data back to the new drive once it's been formatted by the PS3. All game saves and demo downloads are included in the backup. The only thing that isn't backed up are the Trophies but this can be synced with the online account
Good luck
