Default Geo Wars 2 Out this Wednesday

Along with the chance to win 100,000 ms points, altho knowing MS they'll probably expire in 30 days


In order to celebrate the height of summer, Microsoft have just announced their "Summer of Games" promotion where gamers can experience some great Xbox Live Arcade titles AND get the chance to win prizes at the same.
The "Summer of Games" kicks off this Wednesday with the release of Geometry Wars 2 and will run all the way through August ending with the release of the highly anticipated Castle Crashers.

Where do the prizes come in? Well that's simple. All you have to do is log in and play either the trial or full version of the featured title of the week (mentioned below) and you will be entered in to a series of huge sweepstakes where gamers can earn prizes including 100,000 Microsoft Points and an Elite Xbox 360 console.

The featured games in the "Summer of Games" promotion are as follows:
  • July 30: “Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2” – The latest version of the wildly popular retro shooter offers screen-melting intensity and insane new features, including six action-packed gameplay modes, new enemies, scoring strategies and a diverse list of exciting Achievements. “Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2” is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and will be available at 800 Microsoft Points.
  • August 6: “Braid” – From acclaimed developer Jonathan Blow, “Braid” is a mind-bending and artistic puzzle-platformer where the player manipulates the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. “Braid”is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB.
  • August 13: “Bionic Commando: Rearmed” – The classic 8-bit side-scroller reports back for duty in a stunning remake, complete with all-new HD graphics and features that put 2D gaming back on the map! “Bionic Commando: Rearmed” is rated M for Mature by the ESRB
  • August 20: “Galaga Legions” – The legend lives on with “Galaga Legions,” a reimagining of the classic arcade shooter. Featuring table-turning game dynamics and updated graphics, the game was created by the team behind the bestselling “PAC-MAN Championship Edition” from Namco Bandai Games. “Galaga Legions” is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
  • August 27: “Castle Crashers” – Award-winning studio The Behemoth brings red hot arcade adventure to Xbox LIVE Arcade with “Castle Crashers,” featuring hand-drawn characters and an array of weapons to choose from as you defend your kingdom and save the princess. “Castle Crashers” is rated T for Teen by the ESRB.
"Play the trial or full version of the featured blockbuster Summer of Arcade game of the week and receive one entry into both the weekly prize drawing and Grand Prize drawings:"
  • Grand Prize (x1) – 100,000 Microsoft Points, 12 month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription and an Xbox 360 Elite console
  • Runner-Up Prizes (x2) – 10,000 Microsoft points and a free 12 Month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription
  • Weekly Prizes (x5) – 4000 Microsoft points
Any restrictions? Well, obviously, there are some but not as many as you might think.

you should only be allowed to play if you have 200GS from the first game

That's ok then i finally managed the 12th achievement a few months back.

They've added 5 additional game modes which adds some variety to the game, theres more types of enemies and the evolved 2 game mode is a lot more manic than the first one.

The multiplier on all modes is now collectable in the form of yellow geoms (which you may have seen on the pgr4 waves demo), this doesn't reset when you die which means you can reach some insane scores, lastnight the evolved leaderboard was already 750mil+

Unfortuanately 4 player co-op is local only, which considering the amount of **** happening on the screen (especially on the sequence mode, which at one point has 90% screen coverage of enemy) i guess would be a problem to play over live.

If you liked the first one it's deffo a good sequel. The achievements are pretty easy ( i got 10 in just over 1hr and the remaining 2 are pretty doable)
