this game is free thanks to our in-game advertising tech
the original version just went into the guiness book of world records as the most played online racing game, over 10m users.
I was in paris with the developers Nadeo on thurs celebrating the new launch, they had nearly 500k users in the first weekend, and nearly 50k simultaneous!!
They are a very dedicated and focused team, like nobody I've ever worked with, and the game is testament to that!!

PS - once you dig into the community sites you will find hundreds of thousands of pieces of new content...tracks, cars, mods etc. The community is unique for a racing game.

Pontificating
LOL I only removed the original from my pc last week as I haven't played it for a couple of years.
Must have a look at this incarnation.
So it's free because of the advertising then ?

On a serious note, I assume this model does help developers tremendously in part or wholly financing their games. Hopefully it'll let the indie scene flourish and put all aspects of the decision making back in their hands instead of the safety first approach of the idiot "money men"
