Can I run updates on my Open Computer?
The answer is yes and no. No because there are some updates that are decidedly non-safe. Yes because most updates are not non-safe. It's best to check on InsanelyMac for this information but when in doubt don't update it. You may have to reinstall your OS X if it is a non-safe update.

I see they have changed the initial name from OpenMac to Open Computer. There is also this interesting article. Seems they want to challenge Apple's EULA (End User Licence Agreement) as there are arguments as to wether what they are doing is legal or not.
My views? I'd be interested to have a look at one of the machines, see exactly what minimal patching needs to be done to make Leopard run on the box, plus I'd also like to know what updates would break it (I'm guessing OS updates would, in which case, one presumes you're stuck with 10.5.0).
Support is another major issue, If you have a problem with Leopard then you can't exactly contact Apple as they would ask what computer you're running it on and apart from a muffled snigger when you tell them, the next thing you'd probably hear is a click as they hang up on you
I am interested to see where this goes, and there is some kudos to them for having the ***** to actually do this. If they do win any legal action they take then the repercussions will be very interesting, we may well see the bigger PC makers decide to put out Leopard ready machines. Oh dear God, can you imagine it, a Leopard ready Dell machine *shudder*

Actually my 24" iMac with 4 GB's of ram /2 TB of storage and nearly £3000 worth of software cost me £0
No, I was shuddering at the thought of a wonderful OS like 10.5 running on such a shoddy piece of hardware as a Dell ... I imagine the Leopard Kernel is quite embarrassed as well

It seems like the author of the V8 EFI emulator thing is a little peeved that Psystar doesn't indicate that they did not write the V8 EFI emulator, plus it's license forbids redistribution or commercial use without prior approval.
