Default Transferring Camcorder footage to the internet.

Shout to all the PC experts!

I've transferred some footage from my camcorder hard drive to my PC which is now sitting in a video file in 'My Documents'. I thought I could transfer directly to my photobucket account so I could show them on the net but it wont allow me.

It said,

Upload Error
The file "MOV039.MOD" does not have a valid video extension.
Valid video extensions are: 3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p, asf, avi, divx, dv, dvx, flv, gif, moov, mov, mp4, mpeg4, mpg4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, qt, swf, wmv, xvid, rm.

Anyone know what I need to do to get them on my photobucket account?

Thanks in advance!

Was this from a JVC camcorder ? First try to just rename it from .mod to .mpg and it should work.

If not, apparently you can convert them to another format with this freeware:

Free-Codecs.com :: Download MPEG Streamclip 1.2 : MPEG Streamclip is a high-quality converter for MPEG files, QuickTime and transport streams

No worries, from what I've read the JVC file format is just mpeg2 with a different file extension so the rename should work fine

If you're in XP, in your window select Tools, Folder Options, View, then uncheck Hide Extensions For Known File Tyes.

Return to the folder where your .MOD files are, select the file you want to rename to .MPG, press “F2″ and change the .MOD extension to .MPG

Make sure you're in Windows Explorer or browsing a folder, not in Internet Explorer

No problem. Depending on the size it could well take quite some time. How big is it? It may be too big to upload. Right click the file and click properties, it will show the size in there
