sky broadband?
do you have to use the wireless router sky sends or can you carry on using the one you already have.where can i check to see what speed my line will support

i have sky broadband and use the one they provided because A it works really well and B i'm too stupid to figure out how to put another one it.
PS extremely pleased with Sky broadband as i have had no problems what so ever with it although if i ever do have problems i will have no confidence in getting it sorted out as Sky are a bunch of *****!

I used their top line product for a year and had no issues. But, if you want to use your own router you can, instructions are searchable on google.

And your Sky username and password is?? Oh yeah, they don't tell you, it's embedded in the router and you'll need to follow an online guide to retrieve it. Not that simple either.

the username/password can now be retrieved with url injections. I passed around the html page with the right javascript some time back.. if anyone wants it I'll go and root it out.

Alternatively go to the unoffical sky user forums and all details are on there.
Online speed checkers arent really worth it, I am 1.1km as the crow flies from the exchange and I can only get upto 5mb, however I can get over 13mb on a 16mb line. this may be something to do with it being a brand new line though (literally) as the exchange ran out of capacity (new build house)
