Default Printers - ARRRRRGGGHHH!!!

I HATE printers but we use one a fair bit - they just seem to break down.

Anyway, our cheapo one is already dying (going back) - we need a simple printer to print mostly B&W docs (some colour but not much) RELIABLY, with reasonable speed (and quietness) but have no need at all for multiple bells and whistles.

Does such a thing exist?!

Chris - No real budget.
For our business so if it works, we'll pay for it.
We print about 10 sheets a day on average so hardly heavy use but it just needs to work!

Mattee

If you just need b&w then get a laser printer, much better economy in the long run and probably cheaper.

I have a number of customers who use Brother HL 2030 or HL 2040 printers and they get hammered and always put up with the abuse.

Just been thinking I have installed about 20 of these over the past couple of years and havent had a single failure. And some of my customers offices are very dirty, dusty places.

Toner price isnt bad either.

i still use a battered old epson stylus c44 to print my flyers out for work, and it has to print the daily returns every day.

must be about 5/6 years old

had to download a service tool to rest the ink counter once (they get so many prints and then shut down as the internal tanks are full of waste ink)

its done me proud, i still have 4 of the dell printers that scoobynet bought in bulk from a few years back as "backups" never been opened lol

We've had a couple of cheap Epsons and both have died.
Brother seem like a good bet - will check them out.
Do need colour printing on occasion unfortunately.

Will look at the laser option - basic photocopying would actually be quite useful too!

If you want a decent colour printer then give the hp deskjet 6980 a try. It produces pretty good images for just over £100 and the Brother DCP-540CN as a decent multi function printer or an HP 6310 which i've had on trial at a customers and its behaved admirably but it does each black ink.
