Default 360 Elite will you?

With the Elite confirmed in 8 days time,

How many on here will be purchasing one? upgrading? or adding to the collection?

My orders in only because my new machine started to have a few errors, and they gave me a full refund

(the logic being that the elite will have all the sorted bits inside, and its black too, no white to fade to cream in a few years time)

AFAIK some of the black'uns coming here don't have the new n65 chip (what difference it makes I haven't a clue)

I've read some say they will hold on until this new chip is in all UK elites.

As for getting one, probably not. Only just got time to play PC games let alone a console.

I'll stick with my launch day console until it goes bang

20K gamerscore on a single 360 must be a record

not really interested and i don't feel the HDMI connection is worth changing for

bigger HDD is nice, but i still have not filled the 20gig one so that's not really worth it either.

if mine was destroyed by an "act of god" i might buy one, but its not a high priority, especially when the premiums and cores are supposed to be coming with the new hdmi connections as well.......

Must admit, this N65 chippery is a bit odd, if the current trend is to make the dies thinner / smaller, and cooling needs to increase to cope with this, then surely the xbox wants to go the other way

isnt cooling or lack of, its achillies heel?

The only reason i'm getting mine is because the other one went back today, and for the sake of £30 i can have an elite

(and the black fits in with the rest of the AV stuff)

I've ticked the second one but at the mo unsure - it would appear that my 11 week old 360 is still crashing on me so if I can get a part exchange for not too much money then I may consider it otherwise I'm gonna have to send it off to get it fixed!!!!

****** crashed on me again last night

Don't really see the point in it to be honest - bigger HDD is available seperately, HDMI is only any use if you've got the HD DVD addon AND a 1080p telly and I think it looks crap in black.

The 65nm's produce less heat and power consumption than a 90nm chip

Chartered Semiconductor is currently manufacturing the CPU using 90nm SOI processes, and the upgrade in technology to 65nm will potentially reduce both heat and power consumption, as well as lowering manufacturing costs for Microsoft's next-generation console. The first consoles incorporating the new CPUs are set to appear in the first quarter of 2007.
45nm's will be available in 18months.

im guessing theyve improved with a generation as pc 65nm chips actually produced more heat.

all depends on how much the hdd costs against how much improvement the repairs make otherwise id want an exchange.

As my 360 has to go back to MS for a third time as of today, I can honestly say I will ever touch another console made by that bunch of arfur daleys ever again. Soon as I get it back, it's going on ebay.

Mine was bought new on May 19th

It was fine until i loaded lost planet..... then within 1 level i had a crash / disk read error...

it was a second hand disk, so i loaded ES oblivion... (brand new) within 10 yards of setting off it had a disk read error... (i havn't played that one since (grr) )

I persevered with Lost planet and was having a disk read error on every second level approx.

By now i guessed something was not good, and was expecting the 3rod at any time...

I went into game station last Saturday and spoke to the manager, and he said bring it back...

on Wednesday (15th) took it back (it was 11 weeks old) he asked if i wanted a replacement, and i cheekily asked for my money back.... he checked with the manager and he said ok) he did moan a bit when he saw it was 11 weeks old, but when he saw the games ( it was a bundled pack) were unopened, and the protective stickers still on the drive etc he realised it had minimal use.

10 mins later i had my full refund.

Falcon is the codename for 65nm chips, not due out for a few months yet.
