Default DVD Copying Poblem

Hi

I have just got a DVD writer for my PC and am trying to copy a DVD using the Nero Recode 2 software and "DVD43" to read all DVDs . However, once going to the burning phase it aborts part way through. Any thoughts on what may be happening or what I should check to see what's going wrong. There was a log of the process kept, but that meant nothing to me

Cheers
Nige

Sounds to me your ripping the full length of the DVD @ 6-8GB and trying to burn it on a standard DVD-R/+R disc @ 4GB. I'd seconded Mr Shades Idea, and use something else like DVDshrink.

Nero wont write if the disk is to big to fit the disk so ....

1 : Crap blanks ?
2: Read/write set to fast ?
3: As said b4 try dvd shrink
4: Or try Alcohol 120%

Or give Ripit4me a try. If DVDShrink won't handle it Ripit4Me usually does.

Thx all - used DVD shrink and works fine, as standalone.

DVD Shrink says it works with Nero recode, so does that mean it will work in the background and adjust the DVD size if burning with Recode?

Cheers

I use DVD Shrink and DVD Clone. Never had a problem with any of my backups.

DVDClone and AnyDVD make a good pair.

Clone is dead simple to use, to rip out soundtracks, adverts, subs etc not wanted, then tells you the quality of the original that will be burnt to fit the DVD.

No, DVD Shrink just uses the part of Nero for burning the disc, it recodes it using its own algorithms

Shrink wont work with the latest nero versions though. So I usually jus save the files to HDD n then burn em manually in nero afterwards.
