windows wont start

Default windows wont start

i have windows xp pro and for some reason it has just started crashing !!! i have just installed some goodmans software and on boot up i get a blue screen then the pc dies and reboots the system wont start in safe mode or any system restore point !!! any ideas on how to boot it up apart from formating and re-instaling everything ???

have you tried starting in safe-mode ?

the either remove the software or do a roll back ..


not sure which keyboard press's .. f8 f10 f11 f12

try starting in safe mode with command prompt.

if it wont the get the cd out and boot from this but boot to the command prompt.

If you can get onto the machine try doing a system file checker or sfc

type: sfc /scannow

if this doesnt work you'll need to do a refresh install, more info on sfc here:

scannow sfc - LEARN how to use SFC.EXE (system file checker) in this article!

as i said it wont boot in safe mode !!! or system restore !!!

You should of imaged it with ghost at some point. You're going to have to reinstall by the sounds of it.

sometimes when you put the xp cd in it give you a recovery option, I yet to work out the pattern but its worth a go

when it's booted and you have the dos prompt - type in explorere and then press enter. This will give you a "working" window. Remove the last software you installed and check the event viewer
