Thumbs up How to get you mac code within contract

Had my usual snooty fair usage email from tiscali today, stating that following my heavy usage of the web, they are now managing my usage between peak hours, 6pm- 11pm, and as such i now share my bandwidth between all heavy users

however if i want to leave

"quote

if you wish to seamlessly migrate to another service provider using a
MAC Code please call the cancellation line 0845 077 xxxx,
advise the agent you have received this communication to obtain your MAC Code.
You will be permitted to migrate away regardless of whether you are in contract or not.

unquote"

so there you have it, how to get out of a contract early

although i dont see what there getting fussed about, i will see if i can get a breakdown of what the traffic is like between the hours there complaining about..

given that i can only upload at 128k it seems odd they are moaning, or do they want to get rid of me

just loooked at my figures...

jan.. upl.15598.267mb DL 15203.903mb

nov-dec upl 28247.456mb DL 27977.677mb

is that 155 gigs or 15 gigs? for Jan?

Offcom brought that legislation in on 14 Feb. I used it to get shut off Bulldog. No more holding MAC's to ransom

They have been traffic shaping for about 2 years supposedly but never seen any evidence of it.

Im not using a standard newsgroup port anyhow. My newsgroup provider change their ports every so often to keep ahead of port throttling.

You might be able to get your MAC by typing the following into your web browser -- http://192.168.100.1 -- (its the 'local' address of your modem). You may need your password/username and results depend on your modem/isp. Gives loads of info on my Surfboard..

I rang up for my mac code today,..... i have to say the quality of the staff who dealt with my request was appalling!!!

in the space of the 2 minutes, he asked me three , yes three times why i wanted my mac code ffs..

when i told him i had had my fup email, he started to have a go stating my downloading was excessive.... 2 gigs a day..

he shut up when i told him it was only one gig..., and had the printout to boot..

he also was spluttering when i asked him why my connection speed was now less than a 128k dial up connection... despite being outside the managed period!

cant wait now

Don't confuse

MAC ( Migration Authentication Code )

with

MAC Address ( hardware address of network device )

I wouldn’t be getting the 10meg line that I’m paying for then.

Surely that would be a product “not fit for purpose” deliberately caused by the supplier.
