Post ISP recommendations please

We're moving house in a few days time and are currently with Pipex. I don't know if it's the same with all ISP's but with Pipex you have to close the account when you move then start a new one once you have the new BT line sorted despite it being the same phone number.

So we decided we'd take the opportunity to have a look round at other providers. What we want in an ideal world is the broadband and phone calls all in the same package.

We can't get more than 1meg where we're moving to and Sky Broadband (the cheap LLU jobby) isn't available at our exchange. Cable isn't available here either. We rarely ever go over 2GB usage a month either.

So, have you got any recommendations? I've looked on ADSLguide.org and Zen and IDnet seem to be highly rated although they don't provide telephone services.
I also briefly looked at Vista as they supply the whole thing (broadband/phone/line) so no BT costs but I can't figure out if we can get that or not (I'll ring them tomorrow to find out).

Cheers

Sal

Zen is probably the single best broadband provider out there for quality of service and customer service, but it is generally a little higher priced than most.. but the old adage you get what you pay for certainly seems to apply as far as they are concerned. You're right however they don't do a phone bundle.

To be quite honest, I've been with BT at home for 4 years now and can honestly say that I've never had a problem with them. The downsides being they're not particularly cheap and the LONG contract!

I've been with Zen for a while now with zero problems. Its a 1 month rolling contract too so you can't go wrong. If you want to switch then you're not tied in forever !

I was with BT without a single problem for years then switched to orange... calls to India and there technical help should be a comedy show, hopeless. I've lost connection a few times and had to fight them to lift the 2mb speed limit (signed up to 8mb). Since then it used to run at 6.5mb all the day but since losing the connection and service for 2 days it came back on and runs as it used to do off peak but i now get 0.5mb in the evening. Which is feek all use to me so i'm going to bin them off.

I'll be trying Sky or if i wait till the end of the month our exchange will be enabled for Be*. Unfortunately i can't get Zen

Yep,

Looking on Sam knows at the LLUs enabled on the exchange, says Be and Talk Talk will be avaliable soon but Zen is just a red dot... as to be honest the majority are.

I'm on Zen....we lost service once last year for 60 mins. It happened at midnight on Saturday when I was playing an online game

Best service I have ever had from an ISP . Only 60 mins in a whole year! They do cost more though

Shame you can't get the Sky LLU service.

Got mine connected earlier this week (while I was out of the country ), and just had a chance to use it tonight...

I'll see if I can get the full 16mbit speed later in the week...

Hello

Another recommendation for Zen, they are great. Having said that, I just swapped to Be* and the customer service isn't the same, but great speed:

Thanks for all your input I think we'll probably go with Zen initially, I like the idea of only being contracted for a month as it gives us time to get ourselves sorted.
