Default Internet Monitoring Software

Been asked by the Managing Director to purchased the above.

Any recommendations?

Its for 25 licences and needs to record the user, websites visited and time spent on each website.

Needs to have good reporting tools so I can just press a button to get a report printed out for each user.

Any suggestions?

We use surfcontrol. But that's a bit big for the size of things you're talking about. Marshal :: WebMarshal Product Information seems cool. But I reckon there should be some open source ones out there... have a google/look on sourceforge for one.

Have a look at either browse control Browse Control - block kazaa and internet access control which can block sites or report control which gives a very easy to use and read report.

I installed the software last night and its really good.

We have introduced a 15 minute e-break at work, just like Virgin have done, so we will see how it goes.

Looks good - remember to update your internal usage policies to inform your staff that their activities may be monitored!

I was asked the same question by a customer yesterday for 35 users:

Websense - His suggestion
SonicWall 2100CP
Barracuda Webfilter 210 (or 310 if web caching is needed)

I've got a lot of customers who run Bluecoat - seems to be very effective, but not necessarily the cheapest solution. More worrying with Bluecoat is the rumour that they've got a system that can now do real time decryption of a 128bit SSL sesssion - the sort of thing most banks use to secure their online banking!
