SMS for Internet.
Anyone know of a reliable free service that is not going to collect the mobile information I text to and abuse those numbers. I'm looking for a easy way of contacting people via SMS.

Not free but I use www.palmmedia.co.uk and if you buy in bulk you can get very cheap rates, a few pence per message. You can also just issue web requests if your technical or know someone that is so you can do broadcasts, notifications etc.

Hello
A lot of those services have dried up in the last few years. O2 (http://www.o2.co.uk) still allow you to send some for free but only allow you 10 per month these days, after which you have to purchase them.

We SMS from the computers at work, but instead of using a web based solution I use a Nokia 22 and plug it into the COM port of a PC that everyone sends their SMS requests to and it sends them out from there, the main advantage is you can get a cheap text bundle package for the SIMM that you put in it and because you are sending the SMS yourself the information or numbers used are as secure as sending the message from your own mobile.
