Default Backup Servers

Hi all,

Looking at implementing new backup servers with DAS (local attached storage). They must be able to support SCSI attached tape drive and/or Fibre Channel attached tape drive.

The servers will need anywhere between 1TB to 2.1TB of storage for disk to disk backups.

They need to run CA Brightstor (so have to be Windows Server based).

Any ideas/prices?

Kermie.

Dave,

Many thanks for reply.

Already priced up IBM equivalents.... Dual processor 2U server with external disk drawer (but utilising U320 SCSI drives). Gonna order these.

Just wondered if anyone knew of any cheaper/ready made solutions?

IBM are ok, we used to use the X330 and x335 shame they changed the daisy chain cable design.. after that we changed back to the G4 DL360.

The HP Hotplug disks are Ultra 320's anyway? or you can go for the SAS but I think size is limited.

Id compare the HP Pricing to the IBM's too Speak to Darren @ Brighter Connections and tell him I sent you.

Thanks guys,

We negotiate pricing direct with IBM, as such we can virtually get them on par with Dell pricing!!

I have not found a single channel/dist who can obtain my pricing

Many thanks.
