ok- downloaded the latest xvid codec....do i just use nero as normal to burn a dvd still or do i need to "use" the xvid thing?
nero normal converts to a dvd and burns as part of its wizard thing.

The problem is not the file or the media you're using.
Due to the nature of XviD and DivX, the audio gradually slips out of sync as there are no chapter breaks to re-sync during playback.
If you pause the film then resume, the audio will re-sync itself. This typically needs done about every 20mins throughout playback.

if you are using nerovision then enable the create chapters option. This sometimes helps. The problem may occur as well if it is an ntsc file and you have nero set to convert it to pal and vice cersa

There are a few media players that allow you to time slip audio over video for just this sort of thing, I know VLC Media Player has this facility as does Media Player Classic which is available with Real Alternative which is also a great way to get around Real Player which is generally pretty poor in comparison.
Hope they help.

Well if you're going to watch it on your telly then no! But if you can't bare to watch it out of sync then you can sort it by watching it on your PC and using one of those programs, either at source or from the DVD you burnt!
