Default What kind of video card/cards do i need to drive a pair of these

Hi peeps,

I am just about to purchase a pair of Dell 24" Flat screens. Now I am running a decent P4 2.8 with plenty of RAM etc, but what type of DVI video cards would you recommend ? I dont play games on the pc, but deal with high res images and videos as well as having plenty of windows open. On my 19" tft I run 1024 * 768.

Any recommendations ?

Well the dell 30" requires a dual channel card to acheive full resolution and is only supported by a handfull of cards. This is not the same as dual DVI by the way.

the dual channel is known as "dual link", you don't need this for your 2 Dell panels.

At the resolution they can run at, a 6600GT would do it.

Make sure the card you buy has 2x dvi connectors on!

I'm also sure the Dell panels include the dvi cable, best check.

Isn't you 19" native at 1280x1024?

Just wondering as to do these panels justice, run them at their native resolutions.

Forgot to mention that if your high res images include photo editing I'd be wary as the brightness isn't very adjustable, and it's difficult to get calibrated....I do use mine for photo editing but it's not ideal.

Hi peeps, thanks for the replies. The card I have at the moment is an intel on board lump of sh!te. It was ok, but ive lusted after these for months and saved to buy em. The DVI links are a given. I did look round and if you look at the 30" screens it does list available cards there, but not for duals. I dropped a line to Dell support asking for the best card for a dual setup. What I will get back I have no idea.

Dave is the colour calibration really that poor ?
