Question Desktop icons.......

Does anyone know how to make the text and shadow of desktop icons transparent, so that you don't get the background colour painted over your desktop?

OS is WinXP Pro

Right click on the desktop, 'Arrange Icons by...' and uncheck 'Lock web items on desktop'

Cool

OK, just tried that and it didn't make any difference. Any other settings I should check in tandem with that one?

Its called Drop Shadows

Open System Properties\Advanced\Performance Settings scroll down and put a tick in use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop.

Did you make sure you haven't put the check in where I told you first? It's easy done, check it to be sure.

Oh, I also think you need to have active desktop disabled.

Question

I have all the checks correct, but I don't know about Active Desktop. Where is that set?

What you have said works on the 'old' XP build, but this new one is stopping us doing various things.
