Default How to get a PSP to play mpeg4 video?

Got a question for the PSP gurus. I'm trying to get an mp4 file to play on my son's PSP (the WRC one with Linkin Park doing the soundtrack) but I can't get the PSP to recognize there is a file stored on the memory stick. I've made a folder called VIDEO (like I did with the Photos and Music folders) and put the clip in there - the PSP doesn't see it so I put it in the root folder, still doesn't see it. It has an .mp4 extension so what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

the psp is very picky about the name of the file not just the extension - has to be something like M00041.mp4 so if you've renamed the file thats probably the problem.

have a look on PSP Video9's forum and it'll explain everything.

google pspvideo9 and read the FAQs on their homepage - not as simple as MP3 playback.

iPSP (that's for the Mac, but I'm certain there's a PC version) will convert it for you.

Make sure the file is in the MP_ROOT\100MNV01 folder on the PSP, it also needs to be named something like M4VXXXXX.mp4

Lads, thank you so very, very much. I downloaded pspvideo9 and converted and copied the file onto the PSP. He's gonna be one very happy little boy when he gets home later on. Thanks again!
