Default Connecting a DVD player to a PC Monitor

I will try to explain this as best I can so it makes some sense!

My parents have not had a telly for about 15 years, but they both like to watch DVD films. They have a computer set up which they play them on. This is ok but the PC is not in their bedroom and its not the same as watching DVDs in bed! (dread to think what DVDs they are watching ). Anyways they have asked me the following and I don't know the answer so I'm hoping someone on here will.

They want to know if its possible to buy a DVD player which will hook up to a nice flat screen pc monitor. They do not want to buy a TV as that will mean buying a TV license and they won't do that. Also it must be a standalone setup so just a DVD player connected to a PC monitor.

Is the above possible?

Ta

Hmm, not sure about a direct answer, but how about a laptop? With wireless, they could surf the net & watch DVDs - all in bed!

There is a lead to do just that! Its a RGB 3 phono to VGA adaptor.

You can purchase it here for £24.99

Its about 3/4 way down the page.

I don't understand how that would work, unless I'm missing something

Well, the VGA input of the PC screen should be capable of accepting a RGB signal.

As such the signal sent from the dvd player should activate the monitor. But you may be best to contact the company first and confirm that it does work.

In fact, scratch that! I am such a dummy. The signal needs to be converted first.

However, this device does just that.

Its for a games console, but should work no probs with the dvd.
