As subject, up to about 50 quid, not fussed if it's a card or usb.

We do the Freecom ones (DVB-T)

They've come out top in the Computer Buyer reviews etc.

Feed back we've had is the aerial they come with isn't that great for indoor use but once on a decent aerial it runs all the freeview chanels a treat.

Great service from disk depot (TVM!) but the software from Freecom is rubbish.

Installs ok, initial scan with aerial blutacked to window gets 50+ channels, all signal strengths up in the green.
At this point my wireles lan connection gets disabled. re-enable it, no tv, have to rescan, disables lan. This behaviour is consistent.
When working, tv picture is great.
Changing channels takes an age, epg looks like it was designed by crayola, captured mpegs are all screwed up in WMP, all report 0 length, some run at double speed, some sound is out of synch, others don't open.
Using Sonic to burn a dvd generates errors when opening the mpeg and does not work. Works ok in the freecom apps.
so, seems decent bit of kit but interface does not work for me on my wireles system and mpegs are not portable.
(new versions downloaded and all SP's up to date)

Bit pants really.

Nah, I have a big drawer of "used once" products and it's getting fuller every week!

Works better on a hardwired laptop but still not brilliant.

After some more strenuous testing in the lab environment known as "the lounge"...

On a cabled network PC, no real probs viewing (or listening), and does what it says.
Recording - playback can be done in it's own app but further research shows it's a known thing that the mpegs aren't portable and need converting, but viewing in it's own app is fine (in fact it's better than the live viewing - go figure)

On my wifi (linksys) conencted PC, still doing the behaviour above but can be used for viewing while offline.

So it'll be going in the laptop bag (not the big drawer of ebay potential) and will get used while travelling (and will come in VERY handy while the world cup is on).

So it all (kinda) works out in the end

(and DiskDepot were great and get a stamp of approval from me)
