Apples refurb store? Open on Wednesdays but quite often open other days too.

http://promo.euro.apple.com/promo/refurb/uk/

I wouldn't say cheap though but you can get 20-40% off stuff sometimes.

If you can claim VAT back and know a student you might consider getting them to buy it under your name. Double saving

Cheers. I'll take a look.

Phoned Apple up today, and they offered me more or less 10% off the shop price.... so we'll see

May being the operative word. Nobody knows for sure. Everybody thought it was going to be last Tuesday and they were all wrong!

It's now been confirmed there's another event on the 19th October where Apple is going to unveil the latest Pro innovations. Could be updates to FCP and such like, or it could be updates to the PowerMac which seems more likley than just software.

Hi, How do you know when these events are taking place? Does it tell you on the Apple website?

I bought a macmini about 6 weeks ago and absolutely love using it, my PC now only gets turned on to use AutoCAD and play Halflife2.

Has any one heard any rumours when the Intel PowerBooks will be out? Apple seem to be good at keeping secrets.

Regards, Daz

No Intel based machines, powerbooks or desktops will be released until mid next year. There will be announcements as to when they'll be shipping closer to the time, maybe more info will be available at the Expo in January. I'd personally expect shipping dates to be given at the WWDC mid next year, as that is when they were announced this year.

Macrumors, thinksecret, macobserver are all good sites for rumor info. Us developers don't get too much info shoved our way (seeds of latest OS X revisions and such like are about the limit of it) but we do have access to DTK's (Developer Transition Kits) so we can and do have a play on the new intel based hardware, and must say I'm very impressed with it.

Boxes MAY be in transit to us due for delivery end of this week. 8-)

If there is any stock in the chanel of the old machiens expect some big reductions. We were doing the 17" iMac for £399 earlier today, nearly bought one myself at that price !

As soon as I know more I'll post up.

Oh if you want an ipod for Christmas you'd better think about ordering very soon. Demand is simply unbelievable. Several orders for big quantities and a few million quid plus orders too ! Mad ! Not seen anything like this for a long time.

eMacs now reduced slightly but I'm not confident they will be with us for much longer.
