Jerky Quicktime.
Hi,
Im experiencing jerking when playing .wmv's in quicktime. Changing the viewer size does not seem to make a difference. The clips have been d/l to hdd so should run smothe with no streaming issues. Im running a mac g4, std quicktime and wmv player in quicktime. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Doug.

Sounds like you are using flip4mac as that is the only way you can play .wmv files in QT. If that is the case, then the simple answer is that flip4mac uses more power to decode what is going on than a standard QT file.
I'd give VLC a go instead, or play your .wmv's in WMP

Correct. D/L that flip4mac app. the other night. And yes, quicktime is cr@p and seems to have issues with mac's anyway when installing updates. Any suggestions for a mac/pc file compatable prog. for the mac? Doesn't need to be anything fancy since its just used for playing clips d/l from the net.....

Doug, I don't know why you are having trouble running QT on a Mac, its a native app so it should run smoothly.
Your initial problem is caused by the installation of Flip4Mac which is a 3rd party "hack" to make Windows Media files play in the QT window.
If you want to play WMV files then use either VLC or Windows Media Player for Mac. I would uninstall Flip4Mac from your system entirely and go to www.microsoft.com/mac and download Windows Media Player. You could also register Flip4Mac and you will get improved performance.
If you play anything with a .mpg, .mov, and some .avi's then you will find QT's performance is exemplarily.
