WHY has my computer done this???
Got up this morning to find no internet connection on my PC and none on my son's laptop which uses a Linksys wireless connection.
After phone calls to NTL, three to Linksys and a visit to a computer shop, we have got it all back, but:
WHAT ON EARTH has caused BOTH computers to lose all the settings?

Are they both wireless, my old linksys router was always dropping the wireless connection and I was forever unplugging the router, leaving it for a few mins then plugging it back in to get the wireless back. Have now changed to a PRE-N network setup and can get 108mpbs 3 houses away.

Sounds like your router uses DHCP to send IPs to each of the client PCs. I have had this problem with my Ageing D-Link 604. As Mannyo has suggested, a power off for a few minutes and back on usually cures it. Maybe worth a visit to Linksys website for a Firmware update for your router.

That's exactly why I got rid of my linksys equipment. Did this on regular occaisions, requiring me to completely re-setup both the the router and wireless connections etc (the router lost all the settings).
Using dlink stuff now, and have had no problems since....

I have used a LinkSys WRT54G for over 18 months now and have never had a problem with it or any of my wireless devices (2 laptops and an X-Box)
I must be one of the lucky ones

I support 80-odd guys most of whom have the WAG54G, these routers do occasionaly hang ( no internet connection), a reboot of the router most often cures it.
Now buying in the BT Voyager 2100, which has more features.
