New Computer - Who From?
Yes I know this should probably be in Computer related but I'm in a real fix and I need a quick answer
My PC is just about dead in the water and I'm only on here by the skin of my teeth, my printer is dead, I cant reload Word and even Internet explorer has given up the ghost and I'm using Netscape.
It's not a virus or anything my PC is clean but suffering from senile dementia.....it is 8 years old and belongs in a museum.
I need a new PC pretty quick...was going to order a Mesh but suddenly saw a lot of negative feedback about their customer service, Dell seem okay, Evesham?
Help please as I need to order in the next day or to before this heap self destructs completely.
All help very gratefully received.

Whatever make suggested on here, someone will have had a bad experience with them. So, bear that in mind.
My pick would be Dell.

If you dont want to build one yourself, i would also recommend Dell, really good value for money and people i've spoke to say they have a really good aftersales care.
What more would you want

Another semi thumbs up for Dell.
As I had a few bits and pieces like a processor and memory lying around, I thought I'd build a PC for my parents. With some of Dell's current offers, it would now have been cheaper to buy a Dell (and that was with me buying parts from ebuyer and dabs).
Against that, I've had a Dell laptop at work in the past and wasn't impressed. BIOS upgrades were a regular feature whenever new software was installed. There was also a perception at work that they were unreliable. I did a more methodical survey and found that (out of 30 laptops) if someone had a good one, it would be thoroughly reliable; a bad one would have you on good terms with Dell's service engineers very quickly. The good/bad split was pretty much 50/50.

I install computers for the police up and down and accross the country, we use 99% Dells, Yeah I have had my fair share of problemtic machines, but on a % wise its pretty good I have installed at least 1000 machines and prob had about 50-60 with faults, Dell support is pretty good, well for me anyway as the company I work for have top level service agreement with em.

bought a Dell for my parents. 2.66 Celeron, 160 Gb HD, 1Gb Ram, XP Home, 17" TFT. just over £300. They don't need fancy sound or graffix so it was ideal. bought a DVD writer for it for £30 and they are sorted!
